Its unusual for a pc not to have a phone line connector, it's a basic fitment, unless it's been removed otherwise you need to purchase a pci slot modem card.

Remove the side of pc, find a spare white elongated pci slot, press in the card, restart pc, the hardware will be found then prompt you to install the driver disc supplied.

One thing to check is to see if the WORPGROUP name is the same.

On your laptop, Right Click on My Computer and go to properties.
Click the Computer Name Tab and compare it with your Dells.
If it's the same then you might want to directly connect your laptop to the router and see if it can recognize it that way.
If all else fails, you can reset the router.

Hope this helps!

No Internet via zoom X6 wireless router to desk top, lap top ok.

Access your zoom router by using the laptop which still has access to the router.

Your going to have to open your Wireless Network Connection Status window located under your network settings.

If you see this window your going to left click the (details) button

Now you should see a IP DNS server address
for example: 192.168.1.xxx

Type that address onto the address bar of your web browser.

it should take you to your router setup page.

There you will need to check if the lan port is enabled

I have problems with my desktop and was going to use my old Comapq Presario until I can get the desk top fixed. How can I hook that old laptop up to the internet. All I see are dial-up options

you will likely need to add an ethernet interface / network card. If you have a spare USB port, then use a USB Network adapter. If not, then you will need to use a PCMCIA (aka PC Card) network adapter.

Does not get recognised by Desk top or Laptop Asks for Installation and drivers

these drive require a usb 2.0 port.
If you are using XP and do not have a 2.0 port in your computer
you may want to get a USB 2.0 pci card this will help.
if you are using vista, it should install the driver automatically.
also do not use it on a hub plug it into a usb port on the motherboard or a powered card.

Crashed desk top been reformatted wontaccept medion system files

Seems like you will need to get your hands on a restore disk or windows installation cd for the version you have.

You will need to either restore the computer to the original state or install a fresh installation of windows from the setup cd, after that you need to get the drivers for the computer from medion support.

I have a laptop comp i just got a desk top comp i have embarq broadband internet which comp do i pit the cd into to install and which comp do i hook up the embarq box to?

It sounds as though you will need to get router to allow the sharing of the Internet between the two computers. Using a router makes it much easier to share an Internet connection between multiple computers. You would connect the Embarq box to the router on the WAN port, and then connect your computers to the LAN ports of the router. You may also want to get a wireless router in the event your laptop has a Wi-Fi connection.

Need to connect router to deck top.comp.

This might work for you. Now to go in and configure the router thats something totally different.
To physically install the router
Step 1: Connect the power adapter Connect the power adapter to the router and plug it into an electrical outlet not controlled by a wall switch.
Step 2: Connect the router to the computer Disconnect the ethernet cable that is connecting the broadband modem to the network adapter in the computer. Connect the ethernet adapter in the computer to one of the LAN ports on the router.
Step 3: Connect the router to the modem Connect the ethernet port on your broadband modem to the WAN port on the router.
Step 4: Check link lights and connections
Check the front of the router to make sure the Power, WAN and LAN1 lights are on.
