HP/Compaq has had alot of power supply issues with this series of computers. Do you have another power supply you can try in this system? If the light is flashing rapidly, it is usually a power supply. Fairly cheap and easy to replace.
Seems like you will need to get your hands on a restore disk or windows installation cd for the version you have.
You will need to either restore the computer to the original state or install a fresh installation of windows from the setup cd, after that you need to get the drivers for the computer from medion support.
Hi, If your son' s computer has a LAN port, then install the LAN driver.
LAN port is different from modem. Modem is used for dial-up connection
while LAN uses broadband or dsl connection. If you do not know where or
how to find the LAN driver, post the manufacturer and model name of
your LAN or the motherboard. You can also find it by right clicking the
My Computer icon->Manage->Device Manager. On the right side,
Expand the Network Adapter. You will then find the software that you
are going to reinstall. Another thing is to try to update the driver if
it works or not. Here are the steps :
Right click My Computer icon.
A box will appear (Computer Management), Click Device Manager
On the right side, Click and expand Network Adapters
Right click the software, click update driver.
Wait 'til it finds the necessary software.
If it does, then your finished installing the Network
Adapter driver. If it says it cannot find the necessary software, you
have to manually install it.
IF NOT yet installed, copy the Network Adapter software and paste it in google to find your Network Adapter installer.
I hope this fix your problem. Drop me a comment again if you encounter some problems, ok? I will assist you.
the reasons could be that the particular network connection has been disabled..go to my network places and right click on the connection and see if its disabled..another reason is that the ethernet driver is not installed..do check if both the lights at the ethenet port on your comp are flickering...
It sounds as though you will need to get router to allow the sharing of the Internet between the two computers. Using a router makes it much easier to share an Internet connection between multiple computers. You would connect the Embarq box to the router on the WAN port, and then connect your computers to the LAN ports of the router. You may also want to get a wireless router in the event your laptop has a Wi-Fi connection.
the repair he is refering to is a wired or wireless network windows connection repair, a dial up connection has nothing to do with that (some techy that is!), i need to know if your notebook is directly connected to the modem or via another pc or via a router
This might work for you. Now to go in and configure the router thats something totally different.
To physically install the router
Step 1: Connect the power adapter Connect the power adapter to the router and plug it into an electrical outlet not controlled by a wall switch. Step 2: Connect the router to the computer Disconnect the ethernet cable that is connecting the broadband modem to the network adapter in the computer. Connect the ethernet adapter in the computer to one of the LAN ports on the router. Step 3: Connect the router to the modem Connect the ethernet port on your broadband modem to the WAN port on the router. Step 4: Check link lights and connections Check the front of the router to make sure the Power, WAN and LAN1 lights are on.
Hi sheena -Is your desk top hooked up throgh the router? If not, plug your modem into the wan port on the router. The router should have come with a couple of short cables, most likely blue and yellow. Use the blue to connect your modem to your router. You can check the manual just to be sure. Use the ethernet cable that had been connecting your desk top to your modem, and plug into one of the wired ports on the router. I imagine you'll be using wireless for your laptop. Make sure that it is on. Put the cd in your desk top and run from there. Follow the directions. If you need more help just add a comment and I'll be glad to assist you further. If this solves your probleb PLEASE rate this as fixed. Remember. Need help? Just holler Sheena.
