Need a blade retaining nut

If you need the grey plastic type, I can't help; but, if you need the metal type, I probably can. I normally stock recycled threaded shafts and thumb nuts for old Rival and Magic Hostess metal-framed (not folding plastic) slicers. I also have new rubbers suction cup feet and friction-reducing blade washers.

How do I loosen the blade nut on my Ryobi 4 cycle edger? Which way does it turn??

Try heating the nut slightly with a gas torch and continue to turn counter clockwise as the manual suggests to undo.
The heat will expand the nut slightly making it easier to undo, don't overheat the nut as this could damage it.
check their isn't any locking washers holding the nut in place, bend the washer out of the locking position if this is the case.
Try using a larger spanner or extend your handle to give you maximum leverag

I have a Ryobi WS730 wet saw. I suppose the manual was discarded by my wife with the box. I need to change the blade and do not find a stopping mechanism to hold the blade while I use a wrench on the...

The saw should have come with a wheel wrench and a hex key. The hex key will act as your stopping mechanism if you hold it.

With the saw unplugged, loosen the wheel guard lock and rotate the wheel guard to expose the arbor nut. Put the wrench on the arbor nut and a hex key in the spindle. Keep the wheel from turning with the hex key and loosen the arbor nut with the wrench (turn counter-clockwise). Then remove the hex key, wheel wrench, arbor nut, and outer washer to access the blade. Remove the old blade then wipe a drop of oil on the inner washer. Place the new blade on the spindle. Replace the outer washer and then the arbor nut. Again use the wheel wrench and the hex key to tighten the arbor nut while keeping the wheel from turning. Then replace the wheel guard and tighten the wheel guard lock.

The manual is available from Ryobi: http://www.ryobitools.com/catalog/power_tools/tile_saws/WS730 . The direct link to the manual is http://www.ryobitools.com/product_manual/file_url/11/WS730_414_eng.pdf .

I hope this helps.

(If you can't find the hex key, get another that will just fit the opening in the spindle.)
