Question about Fender Passport P-51 Consumer Microphone

Fender Passport P-250

I have the Fender Passport P-250, I loaned it out and they told me they tried to run it with weak power (Approx. 30v A/C) without success. Now all I get is the red L.E.D. marked PROTECT on the front panel above the Power switch and nothing more. I checked the fuse It is ok. Is there anything else I can do to reset this unit?

Same problem, protect light is on. I checked the power output transistors and they appear okay (none shorted). That was my first guess, as the Protect light usually means a DC voltage on the output. Any schematics out there? I'm thinking possibly an incorrect voltage on a preamp output or a stuck op-amp in the Protect circuit.

Sorry about the delayed response, I just noticed this posting.

The protect indicates a problem with the output section of the amplifier. Effectively the amp has been shutdown to prevent further damage. Although the unit should not have been working (at least not well) at 30V, unless they htried to run it at full volume, there should not have been damage. The outputs are blown and this unit requires repair. If I remember these units correctly, there are 8 output transistors, most of which may require changing. WIthout seeing the unit and taking some measurements, I can not say for sure, but expect $40-$70 in parts.

Could a bad cable connection make a fuse blow in my fender passport 250, or cuase any problemmwith ouput from my speakers...?

A shorted speaker cable could cause this... however, what you do is to replace the fuse BUT wire a 150 Watt lamp in series with the power input... This acts as a resetable fuse for testing. If the lamp stays lit, you still have a failure.

When the the Fender Passport 250 is plugged into the computer through the stereo out, there is feedback/buzz in addition to the sounds the microphones pick up, even when the mikes are off.

If there is a 120hz buzz then there is a ground loop between the computer and the passport. You need to get a ground isolator to go between the two. If the buzz is deeper the may be a audio ground off or the hum is comming from the power supply

Pluged into the wrong voltage

Hi,

You have to replace the power supply with exact voltage and amperage.
Be careful next time.

Fender Passport makes loud chirpping knocking sound after on for only 5 10 minutes

I have one that is doing the exact same thing. It's at a Fender
Authorized Service Center now. Hopefully dude can find the
problem. Fender says there is a 5 year warranty on it, so I
expect them to make good on their promise. Did you get
yours fixed?
