I don't understand why Eureka doesnt go with a rubber belt. The belts are strong but stretch too easily. I had a similar fix. I painted the insude of the belt with contact cement. It has to dry at least over night. I didnt think it was going to work, but it works great. Maybe too great. I cant set the height low enough to stop the roller. I was going to do this ,then set it one notch higher.I vacuumed the floor and could smell the machine. I dont know what it was,I think it just got too hot. Anyway you need to increase the friction on the drive shaft in some way.

This problem has unfortunately plagued many owners of this vacuum including myself. I'm not an expert on vacuums, but through some experimentation I found a workable solution. You can first try a new belt, but that will unlikely solve the problem. For some reason the drive shaft becomes too slick for the belt and so the shaft will spin but it won't catch the belt. I wrapped a piece of electrical tape around the shaft for some added friction, and voila, everything started working again. Eventually, the electrical tape shredded a bit and fell off, but it left enough residue on the shaft to retain friction. I know this sounds like a real hack job, but if you've given up hope on everything else, or you can't return the vacuum, it's worth a shot.

If the roller brush cannot be rotated easily by hand, it is likely that debris is jammed inside the end caps.Make note of the direction arrows on the end caps as you remove the roller brush. You will need to know this for reinstallation. The end caps are fastened with stop nuts. Removal of one will allow the inner shaft to be extracted for examination and cleaning. An old toothbrush is a good cleaning tool. Reinstall the inner shaft and stop nut. Check for free rotation of the brush roller. Place a new belt over the brush roller and reinstall the brush roller, being careful to observe the position of the arrows on the end caps. Inspect the motor shaft and remove any old belt residue before installing the new belt on the shaft.

Replace belt on hoover vacuum U4655

Turn the machine over and remove the 4 screws which hold the cover on the brush. Remove the cover and brush roller. Remove old belt. Slide new belt over the motor pulley, first. Then slide roller through new belt (if self propelled model, slide roller through the small belt, also) and slide brush roller into slots on housing (note: slots are different, match roller sides to correct slot.)

Is there a manual for installing new drive belts on my LG Kompressor - we've had it for less than a month and the belt broke. I ordered 2 replacement belts and the new one doesn't work and the brush won't...

You've probably figured this out, but my luv200R had the same problem. The belt broke, I changed it and it still didn't spin the brushes. Turned out, the roller has bearings on either end and one of the bearings was bad and wasn't letting roller roll. So the pulley would spin against the belt and heat up and break it again. I took the bad roller to Sears where they had a new one sent to my house free of charge since it was less than a year old.

It makes a very loud noise and doesnt pick up much

When they make noise like that there is usually an issue with the drive system (the belt and roller brush). I would try cleaning off the roller brush and putting a new belt on. You can access the roller brush and belt by turning the vacuum over so the brush faces up. There is a cover plate over the roller brush which can be removed by removing the (4) phillips screws. with the cover plate off, you can remove the brush and old belt. clean the brush off really good and put it back with a new belt. This is normal maintenence for this model and should be done every 6 months.
You can get the replacement belt here:

Describe how to replace belt on hoover windtunnel bagless

If you turn the vacuum so the bottom is facing up you will see the base plate that covers the roller brush. There will be four screws (usually phillips head), remove the screws and the base plate will lift off. You now have access to the roller brush and belt. Lift the roller brush up and remove the old belt. Place one end of the new belt over the motor shaft and the other end over the roller brush and put the roller brush back in place. Now simply replace the base plate and you're done! This models requires Hoover belt # 38528033 (single) or Hoover belt #40201160 (2 pack). You can get this belt at www.vacbelts.com.

Hoover WindTunnel, month-old belt, now too large to turn brush

I suspect you have been bitten by the Chinese bug.
A very large percentage of replacement parts for all manner of appliances and vehicles are now being conterfeited in China who we should know by now has no respect for the intellectual property of others and a flood of low-quality stuff is being made as 'knock-offs' since they are generally easy to fabricate with fairly primitive means. Our eldest son just returned a supposedly 'new' steering pump for his (US) car but this one at least had China as the origin shown on the package.
Make sure though that the brush roller turns freely and isn't being impeded by trapped thread in the bearings.

Bottom roller bush does not spin

Sounds as if the v-belt came off the idler arm or you broke the v-belt. Either way, take the 4 screws out of the plate around the roller brush and make certain the belt is there and that it sits on the idler wheel. If you remove the roller brush you'll see the wheel. Pay attention to how the ends of the roller brush go back into the vacuum when inserting it and put the plate back on. Also check the thicker main belt is in place as well, it's to the left of the v-belt.

Also, the roller brush should stop when you put it in the upright position. Next time just stand it upright so the throw rug doesn't get drawn quite so far into the vacuum.
