Are you watching a DVD or the TV? If you are watching the DVD you may have to turn off Closed Captioning on the DVD. To do this go to the main menu of the DVD and look for Closed Captioning under options. Turn that off.

Closed caption will not turn off

Just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it in to after 10 minutes or so. This must make the TV to a hard reset. Try after this.

Can't get closed captioning to go away,,, can't find it on the menue does anyone know how

Check whether there is a "CC" button on the remote control. If you are using a universal remote control, it might not have this button. As there is no selection for closed caption in the TV menu options, its original remote control will have this CC button. If you are the original remote, press this button once.

No picture on Norcent LT-2790 bk

There are two possibilities for this fault. The first one is with it deflection yoke connection. If this connection have any loose contact at main board side, horizontal sweep pulses will be absent to deflection yoke. Check this plug in connection first. If it is OK, check and replace the CRT connection socket.

Cant turn off closed caption

With our VIP receiver models, you have an option to turn on/off closed caption through the receiver. Press the Menu button on the remote, which will display the Main Menu on the TV screen. Press 8 (Preferences) and then press 6 (Closed Caption). On the Closed Caption screen, press 1. On the Closed Caption On/Off screen, select CC Off and then press Done from the TV screen (using your DISH remote). This will turn the feature off on the receiver. Test to see if it is turned off by watching a program that has CC. If it still appears, then the feature is activated through your TV. Please refer to your TV manual to turn the feature off. I hope this helps.

Hello
From the main menu, surf though and enter the closed caption window. Here you can see options for Analogue closed caption, Digital; closed caption and Caption style to select. Here select "OFF" for both analogue closed caption and digital closed caption option.OK.

Refer to your TVs user manual. If you haven't its user manual, inform me though Fixya. Send your email ID too. OK.

I black rectangle appears on the screen and finally dissappears after a few minutes. WHat is this?

This sounds like the closed caption is turned on and in the text mode instead of the regular closed caption mode. With the remote or in the main menu there is a way to change or turn off the closed caption. Regular caption is usually marked CC1.

Toshiba 50a50

It sounds like you are in Closed Caption Text Mode. You should be able to get into the main menue with the Toshiba remote, get to the close caption Icon and turn off Close Caption. This should take care of it.
Hope this helps,
