Hi, I plug my charger into my netbook and its shows on the screen that it is plugged in but after a couple of hours there is a red cross an no charge, any ideas? Cathy

With the charger hooked up and plugged in the tablet will only show the battery on the screen briefly to let you know it's charging. It won't actually boot up until it has a sufficient charge. Just let it set that way for a couple of hours then try to power up.

I am assuming that you are speaking of the charger. The Red LED shows that the charger is plugged into the wall. It does not show the charge status of the radio. These are very simple units, and it is not a "smart" charger.

Baattery is probably dead if it has been plugged in all the ime replace it.

'Freeze' . If netbooks stores for some times period,please put it on some dry and little warm conditions.
Try to keep power cord cables plugged in for couple hours.( we need to warm up a little bit the machine )

Sometimes, batteries tend to show charge but they are not completely charge. Reason is that they have got weakened and needs to be recharged properly.

For this, I would recommend you to use Nicad Battery Repair Manual. It would charge the crystals inside the battery completely and make them work like the new ones. Hope it would be useful for you. Take care.

It will be easier and ideal to cross check this problem with a charger or battery from a friend. So first of all use a Nokia charger or the one you have on the other phone to confirm. If so then the battery also can be swapped to confirm. If both seems to have passed the test the fault is on the mother board which might need assistance from Nokia care for estimate.

There are a couple of problems that may be causing your laptop not to charge, the most likely are listed below.

1) Ensure that the battery icon in the bottom right hand corner has a picture of a plug next to it.

If this is not showing there is a problem with the connection between the charger and the laptop. This can be checked by "wiggling" the connector between the laptop and the charger to see if it shows the plug symbol in any position.

The charger can be ruled out as a problem by borrowing a friends charger if they have one to see if that works and to try your charger on their laptop.

2) Ensure that the battery icon in the bottom right hand corner does not have a picture of a red cross.

If this is showing it indicates a problem with the laptops battery and will need to be replaced in the near future. Unplugging and plugging the charger back in can sometimes remedy this but it is only a temporary solution.

3) If none of the above work it is also worth powering off the laptop completely and removing the battery overnight. Then trying to charge the battery the following morning. This can give the laptop time to "reset" itself and cool down.

It is most likely a problem with the battery as they tend to have a shorter lifespan than the chargers (unless the charger is physically damaged by cutting the cable)

If its showing a white battery with a cross then its not charging. Try using the car charger and see if it shows a battery without the cross.

Thee battery is fully discharged. It may take an hour on the charger before this goes away.

YOU PEOPLE IT IS JUST THE BATTERY THAT IS IN IT!.. BECAUSE THAT BATTERY IS NOT ONLY FOR AFTER IT IS CHARGED IT ALSO WORKS TO SHOW THE DISPLAY SCREEN! BECAUSE IF YOU TAKE OUT THE BATTERY THE LIGHT STAYS ON WHILE ITS PLUGGED INTO THE COMPUTER! MY BF IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM TRY BUYING A NEW BATTERY!! ITS THE SOLUTION! the battery is caput!
