I have a AV4337 amp. 3 seconds after turning the power on I get a protection error on the screen.

This is a processor error. There is no way to get to the restore screen when you have the yellow light issue. Try CPR in NYC. They usually have a 1-3 day turnaround time, and are pretty cost effective. You can easily ship them your unit. They are faster and cheaper than Sony!

UNPLUG TV AND THEN PLUG BACK IN---TURN ON---GREEN POWER LIGHT COMES ON FOR A MOMENT AND GOES OFF.

PRESS AND HOLD “device”(ALSO called input) and “menu” buttons on front of tv for at least 5 seconds and then release both together.

The set should blink a two digit error code, like---2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks---it will repeat it about 5 times.


Watch for power light to blink in a sequence:

1 blink-then 2 blinks-------no error

2 blink-then 1 blink-------X-ray protection

2 blink-then 2 blink-------SHORT PROTECTION*******

2 blink-then 3 blink---------deflection circuit problem

2 blink-then 4 blink---------vertical circuit problem


******2, then 2 is most common---usually means one of the fuses that protect the Convergence IC or IC’s is blown---set will detect no voltage to convergence IC'S and shut down.


SET WILL REPEAT BLINK ERROR CODE UP TO 5 TIMES AND THEN TO GET IT TO REPEAT MORE YOU HAVE TO UNPLUG SET AND TRY TO TURN ON AGAIN.

super bright is due to failure in video section. 1 video supply might be absent. 2 g2 voltage mighi be high gue to some part defective at ground side. 3 chroma or jungle ic not getting supply or defective. 4 luminance section defective. BUT AS you are also saying that it came once after hitting on top so there is also possibility of loose contact also. good luck.
