Defender seems to be turned off and hidden i cant find it to turn it on but my pc say's it is still installed

Yes Defender is automatically installed with Windows 8/ 8.1 versions. Go to the SEARCH command and type Defender in the command line. It will appear and from there execute the option and it will start. You can PIN that to the lower bar if you wish.

The component: ioloSystemService is missing and so System mechanic 10.5 cannot be started. I tried to copy/paste the app from my other XP computer, to no avail. Since I have a subscription since 2009, and...

For me the problem was Windows Defender in MS Vista. Windows Defender cannot easily be removed from the OS but it can be switched off which did the trick. Go to the options/settings icon (a cog) and make sure it is completely deactivated BEFORE you install System Mechanic. NB: be thorough - go right to the bottom of the list of options and switch everything off. Good luck.

Cannot send emails after installing norton internet security 2011

After installing NIS 2011 did you run live update repeatedly (rebooting as requested) until it reported there are no more updates?

What ports ports is Outlook configured to use? You can find this information from Outlook > Tools > Account Settings. You will find one or more accounts listed, double click the one associated with your email account. Then click the More Settings button and select the Advanced tab. There will be a port number listed for incoming and outgoing server which is what I need.

Then you can just cancel out of the window and close all of the settings dialogs.

NIS only scans email using the standard ports 25 & 110.

Try going to Settings > Network Settings > Email Antivirus Scan. What boxes are checked here? You should have pretty much all of the boxes checked including "Protect Against Timeouts" near the bottom of the window. If the timeouts option is not checked try checking this then click Apply / OK and see if the problem still occurs. If this box is already checked then try "unchecking" Scan incoming email" option and see if you can now receive email. If you are able to receive email at this point go back to the Settings window and check the "scan incoming email" option and see if you can receive email.

If this does not help, from Network Settings click the Configure button next to Client integration. You should see the Outlook box checked on the top and Outlooks Contacts List on the bottom. Try unchecking these options, apply changes and then go back into Settings and check the boxes again, and then apply the changes. Now restart Outlook. Can you receive email now?

Also, lets double check that Windows Defender did not turn itself ON which could cause interference with NIS. From the Windows start menu type "windows defender" in the search box and hit Return. It should report that Windows Defender is OFF and if so just close the dialog.

Finally, if still not working let's go ahead and run Office Diagnostics. From the MS Office program group (start menu) there should be a Tools folder. Run the Office Diagnostic tool there and see if any problems are found with Outlook.

Let me know what happens

Manual Method:
Kill Process
2. Windows Task Manager should pop up
3. Go to "Processes" tab
4. Kill "WP345d.exe", "eb.exe", "fix.exe", "ppal.exe" by ending the process. (There may only be one of these listed)
5. A warning prompt will come up, Click Yes to End anyway.
6. To confirm the spyware is no longer running, the icon should dissapear when you hover your mouse over the system tray in the lower right. (The icon is a red brick wall)

Remove Registry Keys
1. Press WIN+R (The WIN key is the key between CTRL and ALT that looks like a Windows logo)
2. In the run box, type "regedit"
3. Windows Registry Editor will pop-up. *Be cautious when editing the registry*
4. Navigate to the following folder on the left-hand pane, and delete the listed items below:

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchScopes "URL" => "{searchTerms}"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer "PRS" = ""

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings "UID" = "201"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\5.0\User Agent\Post Platform "89770891803"

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "Windows PC Defender"

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "Windows PC Defender"

Registry Locations may vary, If you can not locate a certain item, use Edit > Find and type in the name of the key in quotes, For example:
To find...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run "Windows PC Defender"
Search for "Windows PC Defender" without quotes.

4. Delete the Folders

Navigate to the following folders through My Computer, and delete the listed items.

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\
Delete the folder "3ad5ffe"

c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\
Delete the folder "345d567" (This is a randomly generated set of numbers/letters)

c:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\
Delete folder "WPCDSys"

%UserProfile%\Application Data\ (Copy-Paste into Explorer's Address bar)
Delete folder "Windows PC Defender"

5. Reboot the PC and then refer to Step 1 to finish clean-up with MalwareBytes if necessary.

Unauthorized access blocked open process token

If you use another anti virus/spy program like Norton Antivirus which i suspect you are as you are using Norton Internet Security then you may not need Windows Defender running at all. If you think that Windows Defender is the culprit stopping your Canon application from running then why don't you stop Defender from running.
Open the Windows Defender program, click on Tools->Options, select Administrator Options, and uncheck the "Use Windows Defender box". Confirm that you do indeed want to do this, click Close.
Restart your computer and try running the Canon application to see if it has helped.
If it has then all's well, if you want to run Windows Defender again just follow the above steps and re-check the "Use Windows Defender" box again.
If this does not work please post back.

Good luck.

How to disable Windows Defender

On your own head be it, Open w/defender then goto TOOLS - OPTIONS & uncheck all the boxes.
Then goto w/Firewall and ensure defender is not in use there. By disabling defender you are also interfearing with microsoft updates for other programes other than just defender. Remember vista is still a baby and is constantly being updated, new service packs are being created day by day to improve the "ultimate operating system" lol yeah right. I disabled mine last year and had nothing but trouble.firewall wouldnt let things in/out ,internet kept crashing.I eventually had to uninstall the nightmare that is NORTON anti virus. and find a program that would work well along side defender and the one i recomend is AVG. its free, easy and defender loves it.Defender is a major part to the whole windows operating system.I dont think you can fully disable it as you will find out eventually.
