Question about Sony Handycam DCR-TRV120BT Digital Camcorder
I'm having a rather odd problem with my Sony DCR TRV-120 camcorder. When I insert the head-cleaning tape (wet kind with the brushes) it gives me the C:31:22 diagnostic message. But when I insert a brand new tape in there's no problem and I can record stuff but it will playback with some distortion which seems to be caused by dirty heads. The diagnostic describes this as a condensation problem somewhere in the camera. I wonder if the cleaning solution that I've applied to the brush of the head-cleaning tape is causing this. Is there another way that I can clean the heads with Q-Tips or some other household item without damaging the heads? Does the C:31:22 diagnostic come solely from the current condition of the head? Or could it be any number of things inside the camera?

Another post here noted yet another discussion about giving the camera a whack on the side. This is not a good idea but since it fixed it points out that it was unlikely it was something the tape cleaner would fix. This likely means a trip to the repair depot.
