Yes, the original r4ds max supports 2GB microSD Card, if you want to use your 4GB card, i'm afraid that you have to buy a R4SDHC card, which is the clone of the original r4, which can support 4GB card.

The R4DS should work until 2GB, thats what I heard off. Try changing your card.

R4 couldn t find ds menu dat

Hi,

Did you install the R4 kernel?

If you didn't click here, scroll to the bottom of the page and download the "English Kernel v1.8" (I'm assuming you want English).

1) Firstly connect your micro SD card and then extract all the files from the zip file and copy them all to the card.

2) Next put your .nds files, mp3 etc. onto the SD card (anywhere in the root of the card is fine).

3) Put your SD card into the R4, pop it into the DS/DSL and that should be it.

Hope this helps, any problems feel free to message me.

Regards,
SOD69

2nd R4 Card doesn't work

Hello there,

The original R4v2 card only accepts up to 2GB Micro-SD cards, while subsequent R4 SDHC and R4v3 cards will accept 4GB cards and higher. It's likely that you didn't purchase the same type of card the second time around.

If you are looking for a reliable place to buy DS and DSi cards fromthat will stock originals, I'd recommend using http://www.NDS-Gear.com(I've used them myself). They test every card before sending whichmeans you won't receive dud cards, and more importantly they havesupport before AND after your purchase by people who reply very quicklyand in perfect English. Some of these dodgy websites take 4-6 weeks todeliver and never answer e-mails, so I'm glad these guys are different.Oh, and they guarantee to dispatch by the next working day, whichalways helps with speed and all. And they're recommended by a lot ofthe DS card help sites, too.

Good luck!

Ds shuts down whenr4 inserted

You should check if the R4 card is actually R4 SDHC, because the firmware of R4DS is not compatible with it. If it is SDHC, go to this website http://rs320.rapidshare.com/files/140174805/English-1.21.zip to download the firmware for your card. If there are any roms on it, you should save them somewhere else, for you have to format the card first (do this in windows by going to 'this computer', then right-clicking on the SD card from your R4 and then select 'format'. Warning! Never select 'quick format'! This could do damage). Now your card is completely empty. Copy the files you just downloaded and unzipped to the card (5 files; _system_, moonshl, _DS_MENU.DAT, _DS_MENU.INI and _DS_MSHL.NDS). Now put the SD card in the R4 and it should work properly :) I had the same problem, and I have just solved it *grin*. I hope this was useful.

Try reformatting the card to fat i think, then put the files(must be latest version, 1.18) onto the card. Should work.
