The game data for GBA SP games are held in the actually game cartridge itself. It is not stored within the GBA. If the data from the games has been deleted, he would have to restart each game from the beginning. There is no way to restore lost saved data once it is gone. The lead or plug on your charger may be cracked. I have a SP charger but it has a bit of the plastic cracked off and has to be in a certain position to work properly. Otherwise you will need a new battery.
