It would help to know what model TV you have. You will have to connect an audio output on the TV to an audio input on the receiver as your TV is doing the tuning since you are on analogue.

If you are using RCA (Red and White) cables from an output on the TV you would connect it to either VID1 IN, VID2 IN, or VID3 IN.

    Check out this link: http://www.avforums.com/forums/showthrea...

I wasn't able to find a manual yet for your TV but it would seem that you need to set the volume for each output and that the default is 0. Go throught the menu on your TV and fidn the spot where you can set the volume of the audio outputs. Set that volume to somewhere between 50-100%. You may need to adjust it so that it plays nice with your receiver.

What you will want to do to hear the audio your tv would hear. Is take the audio out of your sattelite box to one of the inputs on your stereo reciever. If you need any more elaboration let me know. I will be happy to assist you further as I know we can get this issue worked out. What is the model of the sat. reciever and the model of your tv.
    Thanks,
    Lee

What is the model of your tv? You will need to go from the audio out on your satellite receiver to the input on your surround sound receiver. Unless your tv has an audio out. Then you will go from the audio out on the tv to one of the audio in's on the surround sound.
    Thanks,
    Lee

See what connectors you have on TV, easiest way to connect is using RCA or composite. About the sound, connect a surround system to the receiver.

If your tv has composite use the following cable:

Belkin 12' PureAV Composite Video Cable

    If not use RCA cables:

Cables To Go 6-Foot Value Series...
    Steren RCA Audio Y-cable

Yellow is video, rest are audio.

For the audio problem, buy external tv speakers at a local dealer.

TV must also have a source selector command, see the remote and switch source input to AV.

If you have HDMI on TV connect through HDMI, and that is all use only connection type if you connect all cable to TV the situation with settings risk to get quite confused.

After connecting select right input on TV.

Here is the Harman Kardon backpanel:

    Connect aerial to antenna,
Connect audio to the audio out connectors at the left in picture, using RCA cables : RCA Audio Y-cable

Connect TV to aone of tv inpiuts of your choice. The yellow one is RCA, otherwise use component video cable or HDMI.

Select input on tv to the correspondent input connected on the receiver.

If you want to use also the tv as standalone connect the coaxial out to TV aerial.

I have a Harman/Kardon AVR 325. Left speaker not working with TV

How is TV audio (from the cable box) getting into the Receiver? If digitally, you wouldn't be missing any one channel on a connection malfunction, you'd lose them all. If analog, swap the channels around to isolate the problem (and reconsider using digital).

Can I conect harman Kardon avr 230 to apple tv

Yes, although it (AVR) does not support HDMI only component video.

Connect the audio to the receiver and the video directly to the TV if you have inadequate video inputs, or want to take advantage of the HDMI.

Harman Kardon AVR 154 OSD setup screen wont display

It will only display via component. Your HDMI firmware is either 1.1 or 1.2 and has HDCP issues (High Definition Copyright Protection) it's a firmware problem that has been fixed on all new receivers, not just a HK issue, all receivers! the new version 1.3a and 1.3b have fixed the issue. Unfortunately you cannot update the firmware on the receiver. Hope this explains it for you, sorry! Lot's of angry people out there!!! myself included.
