Question about Panasonic Televison & Video

Open Question

I have a Panasonic TX-23LXD50 LCD Digital TV and recently when turning the TV on, a message appears "New DVB Services Found. Press OK to add new service. Press EXIT to ignore". When I press OK, it searches for a new channel but then come up with "No services found". The TV works as it should but this is just a nuisance. Thanks.

SOURCE: Thomson DTI550 set top box problem

I'm beginning to think that there will not be a download for the DTI 550. I've just searched the Thomson website and they say that they no longer offer support for these products in Europe.

It looks like it's destiny is the bin.

SOURCE: DMR E55 timer recording won't work

Your recorder doesn´t have a digital tuner, let alone an HD one. You can record digital programs via your TV tuner if it gives a signal out. Connect your TV to AV1 or AV2 on your recorder and program the recorder to record from the one you chose. You must program the TV separately (I don´t know if this is possible on your TV) or leave it on and on the channel you want to record.

SOURCE: Thomson DTI550 set top box problem

Hopefully those of you who still own their DTI550 had it operational this last weekend and picked up the download that fixed this? If not, it should be repeated some time soon. So don't throw your 550 away yet!

Your problem appearing after the TV has 'warmed' up indicates a faulty electronic circuit board/power supply: if not under guarantee, it may not be cost effective to get it repaired.

It is possible that the built in DVB tuner of your DVD recorder has failed, since your TV still has its DVB receiver working fine. I suppose if you have tried to reset the recorder numerous times, and it still has not found any DVB channels, then yes, the DVB tuner has died - probably not economical to replace that as a separate component, since it is hard-soldered to the motherboard, making the overall replacement cost-prohibitive.

But if you want to do so, you can submit your recorder to any authorised DVD service centre for a quote, as well as a detailed description of the problem(s) (assuming the tuner is found to be the culprit); this will help you to make an informed decision as to whether to go ahead with the repair or not. Up to you.

Presuming your unit works otherwise, you should not need a new one (but an external set top box connected via the recorder's inputs may be required if you need to record channels) - but get a couple of quotes from service centres FIRST before doing anything else ((you can always say no to the quotes if they are too high).

Updating the Channel List Automatically You can update the channel list when the broadcaster adds new Services or if you move the TV to a new location.

1. Press the MENU button to display the menu. Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select "Digital Menu", then press the ENTER button.

2. Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select "Channel", then press the ENTER button.

3. Press the ENTER button again, to select "Country".

4. Select the appropriate country by pressing the ▲ or ▼ button. Press the ENTER button to confirm your choice. Even though you have changed the country setting in this menu, the country setting for Analogue TV is not changed. (Refer to page 11 of the user guide)

5. Press the ▲ or ▼ button again, to select "Auto Store". Press the ENTER button. When it has finished, the number of scanned services will be displayed. The existing favourite channel list will not be deleted when the channel list is updated. To stop the scan before it has finished, press the ENTER button with "STOP" selected.

6. Press the EXIT button to exit. If the signal status is poor, the "No Service found! Check the aerial connection" message is displayed. Check the aerial connection and the try the procedure again

Why do I always have the message:" A new DVB service has been found" when I switch my television on, and yet there are no new updates?

its not your TV its your free view box telling you its found more channels. DVB means 'digital video broadcast.' go into menu and select search or update channel list
