Can you disconnect the ice maker only on a hotpoint ctx21ga refrigerater

Yes, you can disconnect the ice maker on a Hotpoint CTX21GA refrigerator. Here are the general steps to follow:
  1. Unplug the refrigerator from the electrical outlet or turn off the power at the circuit breaker.
  2. Locate the water supply line that runs from the back of the refrigerator to the ice maker. It is typically a flexible plastic or copper tube.
  3. Find the valve where the water supply line connects to the refrigerator. It may be located behind a panel or cover.
  4. Turn off the water supply to the refrigerator by closing the valve. You may need to turn it clockwise to shut it off.
  5. Disconnect the water supply line from the valve by loosening the compression nut or other connector.
  6. Locate the ice maker inside the freezer compartment. It is usually mounted on the back wall or ceiling.
  7. Unplug the ice maker's electrical connector by pulling it out of the socket.
  8. Remove any screws or mounting brackets that hold the ice maker in place and gently pull it out of the freezer compartment.
  9. If you wish to permanently remove the ice maker, you can disconnect the wiring harness and remove the mounting bracket.
  10. If you plan to reconnect the ice maker in the future, you can leave the wiring harness connected and store the ice maker in a safe place.
  11. Reconnect the water supply line to the valve and turn the water supply back on.
  12. Plug the refrigerator back in or turn the power back on at the circuit breaker.

How do I remove the ice maker from the refrigerator?

Hello there,
To be able to remove the ice maker from the refrigerator, please follow the steps below:
  1. Unplug the refrigerator ffrom the power outlet,
  2. Open the door and unscrew the screws that mount the ice maker, there are basically 2 screws, for some model, there is a screw under the mounting that is holding the ice maker in place, but make sure you do not loosen the screws completely,
  3. Lift the ice maker up from the screws mounting it and pull it out from the rear of the refrigertor,
  4. You will have to squeeze the tab on the wire connector in order to remove it from the refrigerator wire harness.
  5. Then you can remove the ice maker.
That is how to remove the ice maker from the amana refrigerator.
All the best. Elect_Comp

My Frigidaire model SRF24ZRH ice maker needs to be replaced but power supply runs threw the back of the refrigerator, how do it remove and replace the ice maker?

There is a quci connect on the ice maker where the wires run along side of ice maker. Without the complete model number of fridge I can not see the wire harness. Usually it quick connects into another quick connect sometimes inside the frezzer wall that can be removed. Otherwise ir quick connects into the side of icemaker.

If you have any further questions or need further assistance please comment me back.

I have a Maytag MFI2568AEW refrig. and the ice maker is not filling up. I checked the dual water valve and it is not getting power to open the solenoid valve with the ice maker switch on and the ice bin...

On typical ice makers that signal comes from within the ice maker. It sends a signal from the ice makers thermostat and the ice maker begins to pre-heat the ice cube slots and the ice rake begins turning to push the ice out of the slot's and into the ice bin. The last function is to refill the water with a signal to the dual water control valve that last about 7.5 seconds. Once the ice maker senses the water is frozen again it begins this cycle again. Here is a refrigerator parts PDF for your model=> MFI2568AEW and on page 10 you will see part=> 627985 Pin Style Icemaker Thermostat

That is just silicone rubber you can also get locally. If you have any other questions please let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Gi5fsaxvy french door fridge ice maker has frozen ice blocking it. However, can't get into it to melt the ice. Looks like a tab on the left holds it in and it should slide out, but it does not. Must be...

This diagram shows two screws on the top and there is one on the bottom. Loosen the screws and ice maker should lift off. You may just want to use a hairdryer to melt it and your water inlet valve on the back where the water supply is connected may be leaking letting the water drip into the ice maker and freezing when it gets there. http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/partsdirect/showSubComp.pd?imageUrl=http%3a%2f%2fc.searspartsdirect.com%2flis_png%2fPLDM%2fW1010173-00005.png

Frigidaire Gallery Professionaly series broken ice maker

If you hook up the water to the fridge, that means you connected the water line to the 'Water Inlet Valve' of the machine. There should be a two wire harness connected to the water valve back. Look for that....

But please note following...

Some water valves in fridges are complicated with one harness for water dispenser line valve and another harness for ice maker water line.

Also seeing a disconnected wire harness does not mean it is for the water valve. May be most likely. But be careful sometime there are test wire harness for technicians to get power readings for components.

Ice maker not making ice

a few things, was the ice maker working before repair?? generally the ice maker need to "cool" before making ice, usually give 24 hrs to start producing ice. next perhaps the tech shut off water supply never turned back on??? bottom freezer, perhaps he had to remove the ice maker to remove the back wall of freezer and never reconnected wire harness to the back wall.
