I have an HP 2210 - this AM I replaced the black cartridge (#56) - afterwards, the align cartridges procedure keeps cancelling in mid-job
I have cleaned both cartridges twice and I still cannot get the cartridges to align

Re: print cartridges will not align
The problem with HP printers is always either in the cartridges or in the mechanism that manages the pages inside. It is very rare to find a different problem. So in the first case you should try to buy another pair of cartridges, ORIGINALS just in case. If that is not your problem it wont be importar, you will just have more ink for the future... If with that the printer is still giving problems, then it surely is the mechanism and unless you know how to disassemble it you better take it to an HP service center with both original cartridges so they wont tell you the problem are the cartridges. Best luck!

after replacing the cairtage printer needs alignment it gives a test page when we put it face down on scannes it starts the alignment...
on alignment process it doesn;t found the colour bands so it shows the alignment failure..........
pls install the new colour cairtge the it will give u the printout
Remove the cartridge and use a damp paper towel, wipe the bottom of the cartridge several times. Each time you wipe you should be getting black streaks on the paper towel. After manually cleaning the cartridge nozzles you will need to use a new tower and wipe the contacts on the back of the cartridge. When this is done reinstall it and run a cleaning and then an alignment procedure from the printer software. You should be printing good again.
I hope this helps, If so please rate our solution.
after replacing the ink cartridge align the printer. Press alignment cartridge located in the printer properties. After printing the alignment get the paper and put it in the scanner. The computer reads it
to complete the alignment it needs to detect the lines printed from both the black and colour cartridges.maybe ur black cartridge is printing the necessary pattern but the colour is not printing so when it tries to read the colour paattern ,it cant read and cancels the alignment and ejects the paper out..it will keep on doing this if it cannot read the both colour and black patterns.see to it that both ur cartridges are printing and working properly.
this should work for all 5500 hp printers

Replacing the print cartridges
Turn on the HP Officejet, and lift open the print-carriage access door.
The print carriage will move into the access area.
Figure 1: Opening the print-carriage access door
After the carriage stops moving, push down on the top of the print cartridge to release it, and then pull it toward you out of the slot.
Figure 2: Removing the print cartridgeNOTE:
It is normal to see ink buildup in the print cartridge slots.
Remove the new print cartridge from the packaging and gently remove the plastic tape by using the pink pull tab.
Do not touch the copper contacts or ink nozzles. Install the cartridge immediately upon removing the tape to prevent ink from drying in the nozzles.
Figure 3: Removing the plastic tape
Push the new print cartridge into the appropriate slot at a slight angle, until it clicks into place.
Do not attempt to push the cartridge straight into the slot. It must slide in at a slight angle.
Figure 4: Inserting the print cartridge
Close the print-carriage access door.
Aligning the print cartridges
The HP Officejet will prompt you to align the print cartridges every time you install a new print cartridge to assure high-quality output.
When the message displays, press OK .
The HP Officejet will print an alignment page.
Place the alignment page face down on the left front corner of the glass with the top of the page facing the left side.
Press OK .
The HP Officejet will align the print cartridges and display Alignment Complete .
Common fault is with the print cartridge replace with an original and follow the instructions. If this does not work remove cartridge and with a soft cloth just wipe clean the little gold contacts (CAREFULLY) reinstall cartridge and repeat installation procedure for new ink cartridge. If this doesn't work then you will possibly have a faulty ink carriage.
