Blunt or bent needle, or needle in the wrong way round, failing that you may need to retime the machine, I can attach instructions if you email me [email protected]

SOURCE: Drawing up the lower thread

Check the needle to be sure it is installed with the flat side to the back of the sewing machine.

SOURCE: The upper thread no longer catches the lower thread

Check the needle to be sure it is installed per the manual.

This is usually with the flat side of the shank facing the back of the sewing machine.

Last resort - take the machine in for service as it could be the timing needs to be adjusted.

Upper thread gets caught underneath when trying to bring up the bobbin thread

try changing the needle
if it's a top loading bobbin make sure the bobbin is turned the right
wayif it's a front or side loading bobbin make sure the bobbin is inserted
correctly into the bobbin case and that the bobbin case is inserted
correctly into the machine.
make sure the are no burrs in the bobbin area
it also could be a problem with timing-and the machine would have to
be checked.

Big loops under the needle plate. The bobbin case is pulled towards the needle and lifted up in the front.

OK, Nylon thread and vinyl fabric are difficult. Try this:
1. Be sure your machine is *very* clean - no leftovers from previous projects.
2. Take the bobbin receiver out (need a screwdriver to hold the release), clean it and all around it and re-insert. When you re-insert in this machine, hold the release lever with the screwdriver, push the receiver away from you (under the feed dogs) then bring it back toward you so it catches before you release the catch.
3. Use a stitch length just a bit longer than you 'normally' would - 3+ for vinyl.
4. Wind your nylon thread onto a bobbin *very* carefully. It's easy to get it caught so that it won't feed evenly.
5. Be sure your upper thread is in properly, and that it doesn't catch on anything.
6. Adjust your upper tension tighter than 'normal' to accomodate the slippery thread your're using - do this a little at a time, it's easy to miss the 'sweet spot' if you adjust too much.
7. Be sure to bring up your bobbin thread and hold both threads as you start to sew - hold them for 3-4 stitches.
8. Sew slow - this machine can go *really* fast, but don't let it on this project. It will catch better if you take it slow and easy.

Hope all this helps. If not, you'd probably better take it in for service.

I have loaded my Singer 626 sewing machine bobbin properly, and when I try to bring the lower thread up by turning the wheel, nothing comes up. I do hold the upper thread taunt, so it can 'grab

Make sure your needle is correct for the machine and make sure it is fully inserted and undamaged.

you just hold onto the thread... you don't need to hold it taut.

I have a brother ls-2125 sewing machine. the upper thread is not catching the bobbin thread properly. help please

  1. Tension
    • Your sewing machine tension controls the rate at which the thread is fed through either the upper section of your machine or through the bobbin case. If your upper or bobbin threads aren't threading properly, sometimes adjusting the tension will correct this problem.
    Timing
    • Your sewing machine works by passing the upper thread through the needle of the sewing machine at precisely the same time the bobbin brings its thread to its uppermost position. If either the needle or the bobbin thread reach these positions too soon or too late, the threads won't interact and create the knots that make the seam. You can throw off your timing by sewing too many layers of fabric or hitting a pin with your needle. See you sewing machine repair facility to correct any timing issues.
    Thread
    • Thread can get snagged or caught in the upper section of your machine or on lint pieces in the lower bobbin section. If your threads aren't catching properly, you may be able to fix it by unthreading and rethreading both your upper thread and bobbin threads.

How do you load the bobbin properly?

Hi there,

Well you may please follow the steps below -
1. Remove the bobbin from the sewing machine. Note: whether you have a drop-in, front or side-loading bobbin on your sewing machine. A drop in bobbin will load from the top, may be via a removable bobbin case cover near the machine-fed dogs. A side or front loading bobbin needs to be loaded into a removable bobbin case under the machine.
2. Choose the right size bobbin for the sewing machine.
3. Wind thread onto your bobbin. Your sewing machine should have a standard thread spool to hold the thread and a short, squat post wide enough for a bobbin.
4. Put the thread and empty bobbin into position on your sewing machine. Wrap the thread around the bobbin to start it. On most machines, disengage the needle by turning the smaller hand-wheel on the machine toward you. Push the bobbin post into position, securing the bobbin into place. Press gently down. Thread should begin to wind neatly onto your bobbin.
5. Break the thread, push the bobbin post back into an inactive position and remove the bobbin. Tighten the hand-wheel. Thread your sewing machine again if necessary before loading the bobbin.
6. Remove the bobbin case cover and put the bobbin into position. The thread should slide through a catch on the bobbin case and up through the cover.
7. Access the bobbin case for a front or side mount bobbin. Lift the catch and remove the removable bobbin holder. Put the bobbin into the holder and run the thread through the holder, bringing it to the front. Lift the catch and slide the bobbin holder back into the case. Hold your needle thread gently forward with your left hand and turn the hand-wheel. The needle thread will pass down into the machine and catch a loop of the bobbin thread. Pull this loop up and slide both threads to the back before beginning to sew.
Good Luck!!
