Question about Minolta magicolor 2400W Laser Printer

Error light won't go off Similar to the first post here, the printer started to print out a large document (my mistake) when I only wanted one page of the document; when I realized my error I stopped the printer by switching it off... in the middle of the print job. I cleared the paper jam and when I switched it back on the error light started blinking; nothing I do (if had it almost completely apart) will make it stop blinking or come back on line! Does anybody have any insights into this problem? There does seem to be a pattern to the blinks just a regular semi fast blink...

Check the paper flag sensor and make sure it is not missing or misaligned (refer to your printer manual for its location.) If error persists, you’ll need to take your printer in for repair. If the paper wrinkles on the end, you probably have a bad paper out assembly. You might try to clean the inside (especially the rear rollers) and replace the paper. If the paper still wrinkles, the paper out assembly is most likely bad. Sometimes a bad fuser can cause the same problem so don't rule this out.

Try doing this :
Disconnect the printer from the computer and try printing an internal test page. Press and hold the power button, press the paper feed button, and then release both buttons so you can make a test page..

If the test page prints, restart the computer, then reconnect the printer and try printing if it doesn't do a test print there can be a some foreign object inside the printer that you may need to check..

Hope that helps......

Due to the cancellation of print in between the printer normally throws out the remaining page and gets back to correct its gear setting for the next job, but some times it happens that printer cannot correct its gear settings .in that case you will have to reset the printer by keeping it OFF for atleast half an hour.even after that if it does not solves the problem then you will have to open the printer and unplug the carriage cable and front panel cable for a minite and replug it and close the printer again.it will definately work properly after that.

pls do rate the solution

thanks.
regards.

Spooling error

What make and model printer ?
There are a variety of reasons why a printer may feed a blank page through. This is, in some cases, an error. In other cases though it is a mistake in the page count or a simple matter of the printer trying to maintain itself.
Maintenance If a user has just loaded new paper into the printer or if an error message has recently been cleared the printer may run a blank page through.
Usually this is to make sure that the print path is now clear and that the next sheet it positioned correctly for printing.
Page Count
When a document is edited there is sometimes a blank sheet left at the end of the document. So, for example, if a 10 page document is edited down to nine pages, the computer and printer still sometimes read it as a 10-page document when a user hits the print key.
Page Separator
In some cases where a large number of documents are being printed, users may set a blank page separator.
This puts a blank page between copies of a document to show where one ends and the next begins.
A quick look at the printer's settings or control panel will tell you if this option has been turned on.
Fix a Printer Spool Error
When you send a job to your local or network printer, the print spooler is what keeps track of that job's location in the queue.
If the print spooler is not running, your job will not be able to reach the printer, so it is important to know how to resolve print spooler errors when they occur.

Click on the "Start" button and choose "Control Panel" from the menu.
Double-click the "Printers and Faxes" icon and locate your printer.
Double-click on the printer to get the list of jobs in the queue.
If you see any jobs in an error status, right-click on those jobs and choose "Cancel" from the menu.

Close the "Printers and Faxes" window and double-click on the "Administrative Tools" icon. Choose "Services" from the menu.
Scroll through the list until you see "Print Spooler," then right-click and choose "Start" from the drop-down list.
This restarts your print spooler and allow your jobs to print.
Right-click on "Print Spooler" again and choose "Properties" from the menu.
Go to the "Startup" option and set it to "Automatic."
This ensures that the print spooler starts each time your computer does.

What is a PCL Error Press Set?

This is a somewhat generic error. It may indicate a problem printing that specific job (document). Sometimes a large or complex job can produce such an error such as a graphic intensive Word document or a large PDF.

You will want to first cancel any pending jobs.
Press Set on the printer.
Turn the printer off, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on.
It doesn't hurt to restart your computer, too.

You can try printing the job again. If the same error is produced, try printing it from another application or from another computer. If that still fails, try printing the documents in smaller chunks. If the document is 100 pages long, try 25 at a time.

If the problem persists, you may want to consider how it is connected to your computer. If you are using a parallel port cable (fat cable with fat connectors on each end) you may want to switch to a USB connection. You will likely have to reinstall the printer using the driver CD that came in the box or by downloading the drivers from Dell's website. Though, if you have a newer operating system such as Windows 7 it may install automatically.

'check paper size' error has come up and nothing can now be printed. If turned off and on the last print which had caused the error prints out then the error message appears again. How can i clear this

This is usually caused by data within the print job. Microsoft Office sends paper size and job data with each job. Clear all print jobs in the computer sending the job.(Start/Printers/double click the canon printer and delete all jobs in the print que. Clear the Canon by off/on. Open a program and print a standard letter size document to test. This can be corrected by going to the page/document setup choices under "File" or the Ball in MS Office. Usually this is set to A4 or Bypass by mistake within the application.
Thanks

Similar problem

Oh, apart from the interesting non-standard lights, you may well be able to solve the problem by emptying the print queue to get rid of the gibberish document. Double click your printer icon (start-control panel -printers and faxes) to bring up the print queue. Right click the queue and select cancel all. Once they are cancelled, turn the printer off and on - have the error lights gone? If so, print a test page, if not, report back.
