I have an old magnavox tv and am trying to hook up a magnavox dvd player but there are no hookups in the back. It is a model #RR254oA 102, Ser# 13610889 purchased in 1992. Can you help me? Sincerely, Ellen Bookhamer sxnbrg99@zbzoom.net

Try to get a digital-to-analog converter box will allow you to continue using your existing analog TV with DVD players and similar products like gaming consoles. For the convertor you may refer to the website at: www.dtv.gov.

You will have to buy an external card for av plugins to get fitted in your tv as many old tv dont have the av plugins facilities internally.the external will definately help for sure .
you can get it at any tv electronics spare part shop.just tell the correct model number and company of your tv to the shopkeeper.

pls do rate the solution

See if Tv has scart, if there is scart socket on tv you can use an adapter from RCA cables to scart.

Are there any places for av cable to be plugged in? We have an older tv that only plugs in the front. I have a 20" magnavox tv too, about a 1993-94 model And it has the colored (red, yello, white) av plug ins in the back. Yours doesnt have this? Please reply.

Ok, we have an even older tv that has the same problem. We were only able to find a VCR that works for that as it uses the cable style prong plug. I myself have been searching for an adapter that would allow me to use that cable plug directly, but no such luck. The only options we found were either (a) connecting the old VCR that has this plug to the DVD player....as the VCR has the colored plugs you can then insert into a DVD player or (b) attatching the DVD to the cable box/directv box whichever you may have, as then tv is thus connected to the DVD player through the cable box itself. Then you might have a VCR/AUX or VIDEO channel (usually one channel under channel 2) that the DVD will play on. I hope this might be a helpful solution for you! If so, please be sure to leave a great rating! :)

I have an old 2000 Zenith model C13A02D and it works great. I went to go get a DVD player for it and went to go hook it up and on the back of the tv there is no visable hook-up. Can this be right, never...

The unit did not come with the separate Audio and Video connections that you need. You should be able to go to a Radio Shack and tell them that you have an older tv that doesn't have the proper connections for your dvd player. They have a couple of units that will allow you to connect the DVD to your TV. Unfortunately that type of connection will not give you the quality of picture that you would get with the proper type of TV.

Cannot connect a VCR/DVD player to Zenith SY1959Y

you don't need a code for the vcr/dvd combo to work on your tv. You need to make sure you have hooked up the cables correctly. remember that the dvd can be hooked up with the component cabels and the vhs may need to be hooked up thru the tv cable hookup.

Hookup dvd

What is the manufacturer and model number of the TV and DVD player? The secret is to go OUT from the DVD player and connect to an IN on the TV (note: on most TV's, the INs are not marked). Then you want to set the channel to the port you have connected to (usually by pressing the "video," "tv/video," "input" or "source" button on th TV itself - the verbiage varies by manufacturer and model number).
