Hp K80 printer

I cleaned the vertical centerpost (you'll see it when the cartidge is out)with a small amount of acetone (nail polish remover) on a Qtip & it works fine now....must be some kind of circuit that needs to be closed and the ink on it kept it open....

Telling me that the cover is open and cartridge jam.

You may want to start from the begining. Unplug the printer from the wall and computer for atleast 2 or 3 minutes 5 to 10 wouldn't hurt. Remove the cartridges. Sometimes the computer thinks for the printer when it comes to ink levels. Before rehooking the printer to the computer. Turn the printer on, reinsert the cartridges, then hook the printer to the computer and reboot. The printer will hopefully work for you at this point. If not try the same, but uninstall all software and download the newest from HP. Let me know what happen. Good Luck, Tim

How do i know when to change ink?

Your print properties may have a gauge that shows remaining ink levels. If not with the ink is running out you will notice the ink not being as dark or vvid. The rule of thumb is have spare cartiridges on hand because you will run out when you need the printer the most. Good Luck, Tim
