Question about RCA DRC8052N DVD Recorder

1 Answer

Baddisc Actually, the problem started AFTER I cleaned the disc with the same cleaner I have always used. It still records and plays what I have recorded. Is there a region setting somewhere that I have missed? Will it automatically switch to another region?

No region selection is preset from factory, whats the disc like? any big scrapes? also did you clean disc going from centre to outside in small wipes of about 3cm wide untill youve gone right round? cleaning the disc across will push dust into the grooves

Keeps on pausing when playing cds tried using cd cleaner cd

It does not necessarily mean that the lens of the player might be dirty when you experience this kind of problems. It may be as a result of a weak lens or damaged disc.
You can try getting a disc with a clean face and try to see if it does the same thing. Also, make sure that you use a soft piece of cloth to clean the face of the disc before playing. Try to do this as gently as possible as it would help to remove some amount of hitches.
Also, the lens of the player might be weak and require replacement. In this case, no matter how you use the cd cleaner, it is not going to help unless you replace the lens.
Lastly, the recording of the disc might be bad and may require you to purchase another one. Sometimes, some discs have bad recordings and cannot play without hitches. This is a fault that comes from the production and not from your disc or player.
The best way to avoid these hitches are by doing the following.
1. Keep your discs in a clean and dust free environment.
2. Make sure you always keep the player closed so as to protect the lens from dust.
3. Ensure that you play disc with clean surface as scratched surface could result in a damaged lens.

Try cleaning the lens. A commercial lens cleaner should do the job, but if not, contact me again, and I'll try to help you clean it manually

No disc displayed

The disc won't spin until the unit recognizes that there is actually a disc there. Try cleaning the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. If that fails, try playing a CD. If the CD plays, the optics are starting to fail as reading a DVD requires higher laser power.

Won't read a DVD-video disc.

Yes, and that's actually a bargain...
If it's cleaning - they'll go in and clean the laser, play table assembly, check the alignment and adjust the amplitude. In addition, I would assume a full cleaning interior and exterior. For that same service here we charge $70.00 dollars plus tax and we're the least expensive shop in our area.

Hi! Pick a jhonson's bud -- dip it into the lens cleaner solution -- rub gently on the lens both clockwise and anticlockwsie -- leave it to dry -- cover up -- run the machine.. but be careful -- don't touch the lens with ur finger and dont try to rub roughly -- lens may go forever. still if the problem remains , replace the lens. chhoton

Hello, please try to clean the laser unit (OPU). You can use special (wet) cleaning disc obtainable at the market or ask the pro to do it for you. If you need more info please advice.
