Question about Arris SURFboard SB4200 Modem

Online Light blinking

Just recently I have been having great difficulty getting on the internet. I've noticed the last few days that the top three lights are solid but the online light is blinking. I reboot and occasionally it will stop blinking and I can get on the internet, but then it will start again. Is this a sign that my modem is going bad or is there another solution??? Thank you.

    same here.

    the internet starhub provider operator said likely due to modem defect.

    this problem happened even on offpeak hours.

    And resolved itself after reset after unknown hours.

How do i fix it if the online light is blinking


This light pattern indicates that the modem can not establish a connection to your internet service provider (ISP). This is typically do to a signal related issue. To trouble shoot the problem you will need to connect the modem directly to the main cable line where it first enters into the home. This process is known as bypassing the splitters. You will know when the modem establishes a connection by the top 4 lights becoming solid green. If bypassing your splitters resolved the issue than you will need to replace the malfunctioning splitter. Typically splitter only cost a few bucks and can be purchased from any electronic store. If at any point all 4 top green lights start to blink in sequence than you will need to contact your internet service provider to "unwall the modem". Remember most internet service providers require you to register new modems on there network. So if you have not all ready completed that process you will most likely not have access. If you can not get a connection from the main line than there is a issue with either the modem or the signal coming into the home and you will need to contact your internet service provider.

The internet light is flashing on the rca dcm425 i reset it and the router and still cannot connect but the cable is working and the light just flashes


My RCA DCM425C from Comcast had the same problem when I came home Saturday, 11/14/09 (coincidentally the same day you posted). Had been working fine - cable TV still works fine including On Demand, etc. The Internet light was blinking. Occasionally I'd see it try to work from one light to three or four, but it always came back to one. Called Comcast, they said their side showed "no signal". Sent out a tech today. He replaced the cable modem, reprovisioned it (I guess if I had a backup ready I could have done the provisioning over the phone maybe?)), everything's great. Lasted about a year and a half. When I logged in via http://192.168.100.1, it said it was still in Step 1 of 5 ("Tuning"), and the logs showed a whole bunch of errors on Saturday that stopped after that. Diagnostics would always freeze the built-in web server and require reboot.

I have the sbg900. It suddenly quit working. I get the green power light and orange wireless light. The recieve light blinks slowly. The send, online, and activity lights do not light at all. The wireless...


Best to call up the cable company and go thru the phone prompts...you may just find that they're having trouble in your area...
They can also send a reset signal to your modem too.
Give em a call..

Blinking light on Westell 6100 DSL modem


I have a westell 6100 modem also- The light your are talking about always blinks- it blinks as long as the internet is working (it is sending and transmitting data)

Receive activity and send lights are blinking. power light is on. and online is off


try to unplug it and the cable for a few minutes, then replug it and see if that helps.

Internet Light keeps blinking - all others are out - No internet


HI,

Blinking green internet light is normal BUT you must check if theres any dsl outage in your area..You can contact your ISP for that.

But then maybe you can try this:

Turn your PC off > then you modem or router.. after 60 secs turn your modem or router ON first then your PC and check if you can go online.

If you called your internet service provider {ISP} and no reported outage let me know and we'l solution for that.

try and restore your computer by clicking on start all programs, accessories, system tools then system restore, restore it back for a few days or a week even try that

Your modem is not synching. It could be a number of possibilities, and you're going to have to do some troubleshooting to narrow it down.
  • Verify that your AC, Cat 5, & ethernet cables are connected securly
  • Verify that your modem is not in "standby" mode
  • Power cycle your modem
  • Try a different cable outlet
  • Call your ISP to make sure your modem is provisioned and your service is set up for cable internet.

My ethernet light is blinking


Make sure you have internet. The ethernet light is blinking because what ever u have plugged into it is talking to the modem. The modem will then take that request and ask for it on the DSL/internet line. Make sure the DSL light is steady on and the internet light is on or flashing with activity.
