Sometimes it does not allow to copy and windows explorer hangs.
I tried reset the player. but still no help..
Re: After format unable to copy mp3 songs on it....
I had similar problems with mine. I tried updating the firmware, but that didn't help. What there is on the firmware 1.2 upgrade is an option to format the player. I used this option and the player is now functioning correctly

Hi, First of all formate your MP3 player through built-in format option of the player, remember dont try to format it through PC. then by using software provided with the MP3 copy songs of your choice and past in your player with the help of software, also don't copy and paste directly from PC to MP3. This will solve your problem. Thanks for using fixya.
try transfering the songs by copying and pasting into the mp3 player. don't sync the device with your pc , just open as a mass storage device. also you may need to reformat the mp3 player but don't choose the quick format option. even better if you can format through the mp3 players menu. and check the format file systm is ntfs.
o delete songs from your device follow the steps below You have to make sure that the device is on MSC mode...then make sure your device is plug in to the computer..Then go to programs - accesories - windows explorer, find the SanDisk in my computer, go to media, music and delete them from there. Either under sync panel in your windows media
player it will show your music when it's connected. just click the plus
signs for what song you need to get rid of, right click and click
To format it..on your device..go under..menu, setting and there should
be a format option option there..let me know if that doenst work for
you... Hope this helps
P.S.Please rate accordingly... Thank You Computerrep
The songs ripped from CD are not in the right format. In Windows Media Player, highlight the Rip tab, click the black arrow under the Rip tab, select Rip Options --> Format --> Mp3. Now, re-rip the songs. Before you transfer these tracks to the player, make sure you delete the tracks that are on the mp3 player now, or else Windows Media Player wil ltell you that the tracks are already there. Now, transfer the newly-ripped Mp3 tracks to your Sansa. Should be good to go.
help! i have tried to download my copied cds through rhapsody & windows media player. nothing happens in rhapsody & windows gives me an error occurred message after each song when i try to copy to e260.
thanks for your input,
Where did you download the songs? Napster?Rhapsody? Any online music stores? Try synchronizing them using their software. If you have ripped songs from a cd you may want to rip them again and before ripping them check this option on your windows media player software. Tools > Options then under RIP MUSIC remove the check mark that say's Copy Protect Music or choose the file format as MP3. Then format the device using the windows media player software(for version 10 = click on the sync tab then choose the pencil like icon on the far right, for version 11 = right click on the sync tab choose the player and choose format) use after doing that rerip the songs using the windows media player software.
I had a similar problem, I could upload songs, but they wouldn't play and I couldn't delete them.
turned out it was cause I didn't have WMP10 installed on my PC, had an older version.
the user manual states it only works with WMP10, and after I installed it (just search for windows media player 10 on the microsoft website) I was able to use the synch function in WMP10 and all the songs are playable (I'm listening to an album as I type :D)
