Hi josh14
Yep, I have heard about this one. Not yet seen it myself. First thing I need to know is what browser you are using?
Do you get the same problem when you use different browsers?
Does it occur in any other applications?

If you can answer those questions I'm sure some will have the answer for you. I'll check the postings?

    Hi Josh
    Interesting one!

As the ripples do not occur in application windows the issue is more likely to be some 'rogue code' running on your machine. I've come across sites being inverted or jumbled up!

Before doing anything to drastic I'd install another browser like Opera http://www.opera.com/) to see if the problem persists. Do not import into the app any of your bookmarks, personal settings, plug-ins etc. You could even run a virus scan on your drive.

If the problem persists you'll need to uninstall all your web app's and clear out all related folders and files. And then re-install a stand alone web app like Netscape or Opera only re-install Explorer of Firefox once the problem is sorted out.

Unfortunetely, if the problem is still there you might need to to a clean system install (if you have the original install software and can back up all your personal data). That would be quicker than trying to track the software problem down.

Sorry I cannot be of much more help.

I am trying to play this Educational DVD that uses Safari to open it. As instructed I click on AmenuDisc1 web page (htm) file that used to take me to play screens for topics. However altho now initial

Safari doesn't actually open DVD's. Your DVD is read by your DVD program on the Mac and may contain hyperlinks hence the reason Safari opens and plays content. The content is actually online if it is using Safari not on the disc. You are on a menu page with the hyperlinks of a DVD ('a Menu Disc 1') and the Mac isn't opening the link. You can try downloading and installing Firefox as a different browser to rule out the browser's fault. The links on the educational page can be dead and don't link anymore? If the problem lies with the disc reader sometimes dust can cover the laser light used to read the disc and blowing inside by 'authorized dealer' may have stirred up said dust. Occasionally blowing in the side can dislodge a bit of dust and set the reader free. Try another disc in the reader and rule out the fault of the reader. If Firefox doesn't work, nor does clicking on the links of the DVD the fault is likely on the internet end of the DVD. .htm could possibly be having issues on the server end because as a hypertext link 'address' it is oldish vs html [and now html5!] and though not likely a problem MIGHT be but another browser should show that.

How do I find my home page?

Quit the browser by pressing Command + Q together. Then open the browser again. If that worked you should see your home page. If you want to get back to your home page quicker next time you can turn on the home button in the navigation bar. It's not there by default but you can add it.

It would be helpful to know if you are using Safari or Chrome or some other browser. My bet is on Safari so here's how to do that in Safari.

1. In the gray area next to the address bar, right click or ctrl + click this empty gray space and you will see an option to "Customize Toolbar..." Click on that option.
2. In this next window that appears drag the home button onto the toolbar.

How can I set Google Chrome as my default browser?

Two ways.... Open Safari go to Preferences. At the top of the page you can change your default web browser to Chrome. It should be in your list of options. I have heard you can go directly to Chrome to Preferences and go to the bottom of the page to chose to have Chrome be your default browser. I would suggest doing it through Safai preferences, because I am quite certain that would work

How to uninstall genieo from a mac

In finder go to Utilities, then Activity Monitor, then when you see Genieo select it, then select the RED quit button. It will ask you if you "really want to quit Genieo" then simply quit.

Then quit Activity Monitor.

After that, go into your Application folder and drag Genieo to the trash. Then empty trash.

If you are using Safari and it opens to the Genieo page, in the Safari drop down, select preferences, General Tab.

You can then see what is set as your Safari home page. If that page shows Genieo then change it. You may have to go within Safari to what page you want as a home first in order to make it your current page, then select Set to Current Page and that will become your web page when you first open Safari.

I do not know if this will remove all Genieo files. Hope this helps!

Laura Thomson says to click on a add to say if I want adds but cant get on.

I assume you are talking about ads displayed in your web browser. Typically, web sites look at your cookies file to determine what ads to send to your computer. If your cookies are disabled, you'll get random ads. If not, you'll probably get ads based on your recent searches or browsing through merchant web sites.

Cookies are coded data strings that are sent to you web browser's cookies file when you open a page. Web servers use them to save passwords or preferences you may have set up for the site, determine whether you have visited the site before, or predict what you may be interested in seeing based on pages you have visited. For example, if you are setting up an internet purchase, the merchant's site will put a cookie on your computer to identify your shopping cart.

To manage your cookies in Safari, open Preferences... in the Safari menu and click on the Security button.

I dont know how to download the yahoo messenger

    Create a Yahoo Account
  1. Step 1 Head to the Yahoo Web site to begin the account creation process.
  2. Step 2 Click on the 'Sign Up' link on the home page to begin the account creation process.
  3. Step 3 Fill in all of the required fields on the page that opens. This will include your name and some additional personal information, as well as your choice for a screen name and password. If your screen name choice already exists, then you'll need to choose an alternative, or pick from the suggestions that Yahoo provides.
  4. Step 4 Click the 'Sign Up' button again once your account is ready. This will make your Yahoo profile active.
    Download Yahoo Messenger
  5. Step 1 Proceed to the Yahoo Messenger Web site. You will click the 'Messenger' link on the Yahoo home page or you can head directly to the Messenger Web site (see Resources below).
  6. Step 2 Click the 'Get Started' link on the Messenger home page. This will redirect you to the download page for the latest version of Yahoo Messenger.
  7. Step 3 Wait a few seconds for the download to automatically begin, or press 'Click Here' in Step 1 of the Yahoo Messenger download page. This will open the dialog box that begins the download.
  8. Step 4 Double-click the Yahoo Messenger executable once the download completes to begin the installation process.

Browser Enlarged

If part of the web page is not visible on the screen, you may have accidentally dragged it off to the side. Click the green button at the top-left corner of the web page to resize the window to fit on the screen.
If your screen resolution is set to 800 x 600 or less, most web pages won't fit on the screen. If possible, increase resolution to at least 1024 x 768 in System Preferences > Displays.
You may have accidentally hit Command (Apple key) and the plus sign (+) key -- this makes the text bigger. To reduce text size, hit Command and hyphen (-) key.
Finally, if Zoom is turned on in the Universal Access setting, you be looking at only part of the screen -- zoomed in like using a magnifying glass. Hold down Command (Apple key) and ALT key and hyphen (-) to see if this is on -- it will unzoom (zoom out) by one step. Turn this off or on in System Preferences > Universal Access.
I hope that helps.
