I bought a brand new Danby ddw1899wp dishwasher about 2 months ago. It has worked great until recently. Whenever the dishwasher drains water through the hose, it makes a noise like something is stuck and/or rattling around. Since hearing this noise, I immediately stopped using my dishwasher. I have, since then, tried to run a cycle without any dishes in hopes it would go away. Sadly it did not. Like I said, the noise only happens when the water drains from the dishwasher. Thanks!

If it's only two months old I would talk to the place I bought it from. I am sure they will help you. It should be under warranty.

SOURCE: what is the funnel thing

The "funnel thing" is exactly what it looks like- a funnel. It's for adding the salt to the water softener located on the "floor" of the dishwasher:)

SOURCE: i have a ddw1899wp danby i have a green power

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors or feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/PUMP MOTOR/DRAIN to work when it is commanded .If this does not happen then the voltage at these points must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage/drive from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

Check how to remove the control panel: http://www.espares.co.uk/advice/dishwashers/a/3/1287/how-to-replace-a-hotpoint-dishwasher-fascia-p.html

If the water flows then the flow should be good, if not the inlet valve is bad or there is dirt in the filter. Also check the flow at the inlet of the water line. What is most important for the motor to start functioning is that the door switch must be ON when the door is shut or this will be an error for starting the motor. The water pressure must be good and the spraying must be seen to be good. If there is low pumping or pressure then the spray arms will not turn around to inject with pressure. If so the pump must be checked for clogging.

Danby DDW1899WP Portable Dishwasher will no longer turn on

If it just has no water, then it would be a fairly safe bet it was the water inlet valve. If it is completely unresponsive, that points to either a power issue or a control board issue. You will need a Service Technician, and you may be better off with a new one depending on the age of it. The reviews put it at about 3 years old and $429. It is more of a freestanding machine that portable, it just has wheels. It looks useful.

Danby has the manual for the DDW1899WP-1 on the product information site: https://www.danby.com/en-us/products/kitchen-en-us/ddw1899wp-1/ . Look in the right hand column as you scroll down. I hope this helps.

Water softener

Marsena, I am at the point where I'm going to call a repairman. I'm very disappointed that I have a brand new appliance, and no means of having this issue handled. This is a great dishwasher otherwise, but I could not recommend it due to this problem.

I couldn't find it either for a long time:

1) Pull out the bottom rack as if you were putting dishes there
2) Look at the bottom of the dishwasher and there will be a white circle (near the upper left side) where you can add the water softener.

I didn't use any for a while and the dishwasher worked great so I'm not sure why you can't run it.

What does E3 mean?

E3 not hot enough. This defect can be caused by, but not only, a defective element or clogged spray arms.
