Hi! try setting the bios to either pci or vga as the initial startup graphics card. or u may have a faulty power supply unit. better to check both out.

First try shutting system down, unplug tower for 1 minute and restart. Give it time to come up and if that doesn't work, shut it down again and try to start in "safe mode" do you get any screen at all? If you can start in safe mode try going to "control panel'", "device manager" then "personaliztion", and adjust your resolution. If you can't adjust your resolution in safe mode do a "system restore" back to when monitor worked.

How do i get my laptop to work again i changed something with the resolution and it comes on then the screen goes blank

If you have an external monitor, it would be easiest to hook it up to the laptop and hope that you get video on the external monitor. This would make it rather quick and simple to change the resolution back to something your laptop can handle. If you don't have another monitor that you can use sitting about, the best resolution would be to restart the laptop, and press F8 as the computer is turning on. This will give you a list of different options to boot into Windows with. One of the options will be a "VGA Low - Res mode", use the arrow keys to navigate and enter to select that. You can then change your resolution / restart and set it to what you want it to be from there.

Sounds like it is overheating and then shutting down. Is the laptop on a hard surface or a lap or blanket? You need to have air circulation.

Hp flat panel monitor comes on shows logon and then blank screen

Ok, another words, monitor powers up for few seconds and shuts down by itself. If green LED on the front panel turns off as well or stays on?
If stays on, then inverter turns into protection mode because of old backlight lamps.
If it turns off in same time with an image on the screen, then there are some bad electrolytic capacitors in the power supply.

Monitor goes blank , power light goes off.

Click start, then then control panel and click on the power management icon. When you see the screen, look at the power management "scheme" and pick the appropriate setting. I assume that what you are experiencing is what's known as "Power management" . In order to achieve an "Energy Star" rating, the computer must shut off various components to conserve power. If you don't want to have your monitor shut down, select never from the options in the Power Management screen. Thanks for using Fixya.com

Blank screen

the power is supposed to stay on when that little plastic button is pressed(screen switch)the screen switch activates hibernate and power saving;if you press the power button a screen will open informing you what programs are currently working.by shutting down you have caused an illegal command.
hopefully if you restart in safemode then shut down correctly and restart every thing should be ok.
