    Hi

My connection is secured with Sky. I bought a new Acer 5920 laptop and, when I first turned it on it started loading the pre loaded software, on completeing this, there was an igfxres.dll error message that kept appearing on restarting. I was able to connect to the internet without any problems, it was when I tried to fix the igfxres.dll error that the problem started. I loaded registry mechanic and, but this did not fix the problem even after loading Windows One Care. A colleague where I work suggested that some software pre loaded hadn't load correctly and, that I should try setting the laptop back the factory settings, which I did and, it was then that the problem with the wireless adapter started although the error message did not appear again. It will try connecting, then tell me it has and then disconnects to another network which is not mine. I have entered the network key, and when you go to view wireless networks it comes up that my connection is secured, but it won't connect wirelessly. I even put the sky disk in and, connected the network cable, I was then able to connect to the internet without a problem, but as soon as I disconnected the cable, it disconnects me straight away.

I can connect via my PC which also has a wireless adpater as I have checked that, but not obviously at the same time as I was trying with my laptop, because then it would conflict with each other.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Mary-Anne Brooks

Is your connection secure? if you haven't set a password or a WPA key you need to set one up. If unsecure anyone can use your wireless network for free and keep you off your own system.

If you have a wireless hub it allows you to use both computers online at the same time frirstly. Also if you have a cordless phone it can also interfer and disconnect you.

Sounds like the drivers are conflicting with windows, need to start again at the beginning. Now you will need to reinstall you wireless sky connection, you will need to reload the cd. If you are using windows vista you will need to run the setup file as an administrator. With Vista you need to allow everything through the Administrator in order to load successfully all drivers.
Open your My Computer or Computer and right click on your CD ROM and click on Explore. Then find a setup file and right click on it and click on run as Administrator. When it runs it will ask you to except and allow your installation. Follow on screen instructions and restart computer. Try connecting and see if problem still exists. Please post me if still no success!

My filemate wireless adaptor keeps disconnecting from the router

Try these:

  • Open Device Manager, open the Network Adapters, double-click the wireless adapter to open its Properties, click the Power Management tab, and deselect "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

  • Some internal wireless adapters will have conflicts with your sound card, using the same interrupt. If either of the devices will let you change the interrupt under Properties, Resources, that would be a good think to test. USB wireless dongles are cheap, and there are no interrupt problems.

Netgear wirless - installed on toshiba satellite a45 - S151 will not connect to internet router = comcast - linksys also causes conflict with connection of other wireless computer

Presumably, you have configured your wireless router:
* SSID (your "network name")
* encryption-level ('WPA' or higher security)
* password for your network

With that information, any wireless device (iPod Touch, iPhone, NetGear wireless adapter) should be able to connect to your wireless router.

> conflict with connection

Exactly what error-message are you getting?

How to install an wirless adapter to mi desktop

Install a wireless network adapterIn areas that are served by a wireless network, you can connect to a computer network without using a cable, and surf the Internet or connect with other computers. To connect to a wireless network, your computer needs a wireless network adapter.
Many new computers-especially laptops-come with wireless adapters. Before using your computer, check to see if it already has a wireless network adapter.
If your computer doesn't have a wireless network adapter, you can install one.
Install a wireless USB network adapter. Most people prefer this type of adapter for any type of computer, because it's easy to install.
Install a wireless CardBus or CF network adapter. For portable computers, this type of adapter (also called a PCMCIA or PC Card) is easier to travel with than a USB adapter, because it is often smaller and fits securely in the PC Card slot on the side of the computer.
Install a wireless internal network adapter. If you have a desktop computer, you may prefer an internal adapter so that you can use the USB port to connect another accessory.
The type of adapter you install depends on your computer and your level of expertise.
How to determine if you already have a wireless network adapterMany portable computers manufactured after 2000 have wireless networking built in. However, because the antenna is hidden inside the computer, it's not easy to see.
To see which network adapters are currently installed in your computer
1.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.

Click Network and Internet Connections.
69010-click-network-and-internet-connections.gif 3.
Under or pick a Control Panel icon, click Network Connections.
69010-click-network-connections.gif 4.
Microsoft Windows XP displays your network adapters. Wireless network adapters are labeled Wireless Network Connection. If an adapter displays a red X, it is disconnected. If the Network Connections window is blank, your computer doesn't yet have a wired or wireless network adapter.

Keep stating network cable upplugged

The message is from you wired network adapter not your wireless adapter.
Go to Network Connections and open the Properties of your wired Local Area Connection (LAN) adapter. Change the notification setting at the bottom of the window.

I hope this helps.

I am trying to connect wireless network, but unable to connect my wireless, showing my signal is very good of that wireless connections but it's connection with other non secure wireless network. But when...

what i had to do was connect my ethernet cord to the computer with the wireless adapter. disconnect the adapter. go to belkin and download the updated driver and software for the adapter. DO NOT use the software that comes with the adapter as it is outdated by the time you buy it. make sure you remove all traces of the adapter and previous software and restart your comp before downloading and installing the new, or there will be file conflict issues. also, make sure your router configurations are correct. make your own ssid, use wep and hex key. when you make a 10 digit password it will be transformed into a 10 digit hex key. make sure you write it down and correctly enter it when using your adapter to connect to your network. if at all possible, try to avoid a belkin wireless adapter. they are cheap for a reason. i dumped mine, bought a netgear, went through the exact steps i described above, and all has been great. occasionally it will disconnect, but windows repairs it. if everything is not set up right, it will not repair the connection. it took me 5 12 hour days of research, trial and error, etc., but i got it all down and squared away. fgb_73@yahoo.com if you need further assistance.

Wireless adapter disconnecting and reconnecting

Try these first:

change channels to 1-6-or 11. Make sure you change all of your wireless computers.

check is to make sure you are NOT using "IEEE 802.1x authentication for this network."

You can find at setting under "Wireless Network Connection1.gif Properties" and then under "Authentication" tab of your network properties.

This particular authentication method is periodically logging you off the network and re-authenticating.

Check the adapter in device manager to make sure that windows is not shutting the adapter down to save power.

Cordless phones and wireless ethernet cards use overlapping frequencies. As a test, you can unplug the AC cords from all the cordless phones in the area and see if it helps.

Can't set up wireless connection

  1. Check in your system: Click Control Panel, then double click System. On the Hardware tab click Device Manager. Click the (+) sign besides the Network Adapter. See if the Packard bell wireless adaptor is there. If its is not there, right click the Network Adapter and click Scan for hardware changes, and reinstall the network adapter.
  2. If the Packard bell network adapter is already there, click Start and click My Network Places. On the left side of the Network Connection, click View Network Adapter. The wireless network adapter should be there. Right click the wireless network adapter and choose properties. Give check mark on Show icon in notification area when connected (to show you if there is wireless notification), and give check mark to Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity (to show if the wireless network is disconnected). and click OK
  3. Turn on the orange broadband livebox. And right click the the wireless network connection (on Network Connection) and choose View Available Wireless Networks. And the click the Orange broadband Livebox to use this wireless Network connection.
I hope this solution is helpful to solve your problems
