How can i make write protected content in my CD so that the data cannot be copied to any machine without permission. Which version of Nero supports for it and how to achieve it?? If any other software...

there are many solutions for ur issue...but the solution is based on what kind of CD u plan to create...as the solutions differ....
google and look for a solution that u need...
also there are many softwares than can RIP any kind of CD even though they may be created using a copy protect...many of the movies CD/DVD are copy protect(it's difficult to make a disk copy of that CD/DVD)....but the same can be played on any DVD player...the movie signal from the DVD player that is received by the TV can be recorded using any recording equip...(VCR, Camcorder, digital recorder, computer using special digital recording equip etc) and the same when is available in a PC as a E-file the same can be just copied on to a blank DVD...it's a known fact that crackers/pirates are more smarter than the ones who create a new tech....
so even though u may be able to create a copy protected CD, it I am sure can be pirated/ripped by many means...

Nero 7 Ultra Advance-to-Time Index Problem Work-around

Posted under Nero 6 Ultra because there is no Nero 7 Ultra listing here on Fixya...

OK, I am going to tell you how I managed to work around this problem. I am posting this in the hopes it will save someone else the aggravation I had in stumbling around trying to find a procedure that would fix the problem. I found a work-around I can live with, so here's the problem and the solution follows. If it applies to you, I hope it makes your DVD-burning life livable again! Oh yeah, looks like Nero 8 is ready to come out soon. Just when you though it was safe.... anyway, here goes:

The Problem:

Burning DVDs using Nero 6.2 on Win ME was successful, and it allowed for advancing via time index. For example, I would burn a DVD and be able to go to any time point in the scene. However using Vista and Nero 7 Ultra, while DVDs burn successfully, the advance-by-time index is no longer available in DVDs burned under Vista with Nero 7. Details:

DVD burner: Buslink DBW1647-U2
O/S: Vista Home Basic
S/w: Nero, Ver. 7 Ultra, registered
DVD media: 16X Starlogic DVD-R
DVD player: Goldstar VM681M

The scenario is this:

1. Begin playing a chapter on the DVD
2. Click the chapter menu button on the remote.
3. Use up-down arrow keys on remote to try to get to timed index setting (ie, the one where if you select it and type "10:00" it will jump the scene to the 10:00 mark).
4. Can't select that option.

----

The Work-around:
1. Open Nero Vision and choose to create a DVD.
2. Access the Options by clicking More>> and make sure Nero SmartEncode is set to 'Disabled'. I think since Nero wants to convert everything to MPEG-4 that that might be a factor. Also, you may need to get some codecs, too. I am using the K-lite full pack available here: http://www.digital-digest.com/software/k-lite_codec_pack.html (Note that K-lite doesn't like other codec packs being on the same PC as it-- it nagged me to uninstall the DivX and Vista Codec Packs, and I did. I have discovered no problems so far since.)
3. Add your video files and step through the rest of the process. Settings to look out for: Automatically create chapters: NOT checked, Enable Forward/Backward Jumping: checked.
4. On the last screen, choose to Write to Disk instead of burning to the CD drive-- select a place to save the DVD-compatible files. Click "Burn" and off you go.
5. After your DVD files are written to disk (they will be in a folder called TS_VIDEO in the place you chose to save them to), fire up a copy of ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/). [Maybe Nero's image burner will work too, I just haven't tried it. In any case this is known to work so I am using it here.]
6. Switch Mode to Build -- you need to build an .iso image file in order to burn it to DVD -- and select the TS_VIDEO folder holding your Nero-ed files. Indicate a name for the output file and run it. This should not take nearly as long as Nero took in creating the raw DVD files. The .iso file you created will be close to the same size as the raw DVD files are in the TS_VIDEO folder Nero created.
7. Now switch mode to Write and indicate the .iso file you built as the input and select the target DVD drive you are using, then run it. The burn process should not take long, either, compared with the other steps.
8. Test it in your DVD player-- you should be able to jump to time indexes now.

I have no idea why this works as opposed to the transcode-then-burn process that worked for me under Nero 6.2. There may well be other ways to deal with this problem, I just don't know what they are. Downside to this approach of course is that you need about 33% more disk space as compared with that required for transcode-and-burn (t-and-b: need space for the original files and Nero temp files; the .iso approach: need space for the original files, the DVD-compatible files Nero creates, and the .iso file created from that). However this is an alternate procedure, not a fix, and the only approach so far I have found.

Plenty of good DVD discs gave their lives to discover this process. I hope I can save you some misery and trips to the store for more blank DVDs by posting it here.

Nero 7 burning used for pictures/video

There are many was to burn photo or dvd using nero.
The only thing you need to know is what format your dvd player accepts. If it accepts jpeg or kodack then you can burn staright to the cd.
If your dvd player hase Divx the tiy can burn any media to cd using Divx player. If not then you need to convert the file to dvd format.
Using Nero to make a dvd.

1. click on Nero and select DVD on the top middle and then click on the tab Photo & DVD
2. Then click on MAKE YOUR OWN DVD
this will open a new window here you need to select from the right hand side ADD VIDEO FILES.
3. Once loaded click next and let Nero recode the video format to dvd.
4. Insert a new dvd and burn it

This is the only way to recode a normal video file to dvd format.

Hope it works for you as its worked for me many times in the past.

Good Luck!!

Burning files to DVD..............

Hi,
You should be able to fill a DVD with files and burn using Nero.
Open Nero Smartstart ,Set to DVD,data, make Data DVD
then open a browser window, ie press the windows flag key and "E", locate the directory of files you want to burn, drag them into the Nero page. You should see the progress bar at the bottom of the screen gradually move towards the 4500MB position - this is the maximum for a DVD.
When you have listed all the files you want to burn, press next, change the disc name if you wish. Your DVD drive should be listed above the disc name - something like E:ASUS DRW-1608P3S ( this is my drive) then press "Burn"
If all is well, the drawer will open and you must insert a blank DVD into the drive. The files will then be written to the the disc.

If it does not work let me know and we can investigate further.

cheers

DVD burn in Me

Hi,

To burn DVD video with Nero, u need to buy the DVD video (like DOLBY) plugin from the nero site. Alternatively. u may use some open source plugins for the same,........but not with the Nero!

Try some other free DVD authoring tool on the net.

Examples are available at: http://www.thefreecountry.com/utilities/dvdcdburning.shtml

bye

I hope this solves ur problem

Have a nice time

The file may be damaged or corrupted. this may be the case preventing the wave editor from opening the file. You should convert this format by using anuy other software like soudforge or some other software that can do this. That is the only possible solution that I can suggest. There is no plugin that support CCITT u-law (mono)

Converting .DAT files to DVD Files

I guess that this file is from a VCD? If you just burn that file onto a CD as a data CD it should play in your DVD player. The AVSEQ01.dat file is already a (S)VCD file. It is in MPEG format and should be playable on a DVD player as is. Alternatively you can import the file you want to burn into nero vision. Once it is imported then choose to export the file as an MPEG file or burn direct to DVD. Please update the question & let us know if the information given was useful to you - Good Luck!
