I just set it up for the first time since i purchased it from the store, everything appears to be set up properly(speaker wires plugged in the correct place + -) and no sound comes out on cd or tuner. WHY???

check your wiring connections, sounds like you may have intermittent connection somewhere, and this is the most likely culprit. be certain that all connections are solid. multi pin plugs are notorious for having one bad pin.

The speaker output connections on this stereo system unit are called RCA...named from the inventing company. Computer speakers use what is called a "mini-plug" and as you've found out, the two are not the same.

I would suggest checking at your local Goodwill or Salvation Army store for an inexpensive pair of speakers with the proper RCA connection you need. Second choice is the local Radio Shack store...tell them you need speakers with RCA type connections and you will also need two RCA to RCA speaker wires to make the connection needed.

Yes some-times the case/computer chassis does not have an internal BIOS/CMOS beep code speaker built in.

So what you will need to do is go to your local computer store and purchase a mainboard beep code speaker. You may even find it online at your favorite computer store.

The modern speaker is very small compared to the older mainboard beep code speakers.

Your computer will continue to work without the speaker, the beep code speaker is there to help diagnose/troubleshoot problems when they occur.

Assuming that everything looks like it should work, that the volume is up sufficiently and the mute is off, and that any power section fuses are set and/or not burned out and that the units 'warm up' temperature feels the same. I would try a process of elimination something like this:

* Always turn the unit of and unplug it everytime you attach/detach speaker wiring *

Unplug all sources (DVD, CD, DVR etc) and use only the FM section as as source:

1. Does the unit have an indicator that is labeled overload or protect or something like that? If so, then unplug/disconnect and inspect the wiring on the speaker terminals. Ensure that if they are bare wires, there are no strands from different wires contacting each other.
2. Does the unit have a speaker have an A/B switch? If so, ensure that your speakers are plugged into the correct terminals
3. Does the unit have earphone plugs? If so, try using those . . . if you don't have any earphones go and purchase a cheap pair . . .make sure you have the proper plug - 1/4" stereo?
4. Do you know for a fact that your speakers work? Beg, buy or borrow a pair of cheap of speakers and try them.
5. Try using different speaker wire . . . if you have a fancy monster or vampire wire wiring set up, then go to RS and buy some in-expensive speaker wire (not too thin!) and see if anything changes.
   
6. Unplug everything from the unit and then hook up one and only one speaker and see what happens. Move the speaker wiring from one set to another, see if there is any behavior change . . .

If after all this and no joy, then time to take it to be serviced.

Double check that you have the speaker cable plugged into the proper jack (audio out - green) on the computer. Make sure that the audio hasn't been muted and that it is set for the correct output type (if you have a multi-channel audio option).

Try a standalone set of speakers to check if the audio driver for the on-board audio or sound card is working.

(I've found that the integrated speakers will fail before the monitor does. Since the integrated speakers are low-end and similar speakers are fairly cheap, get new speakers of a quality you like. Repairing the speakers isn't worth it.)

Take it back to the store where you purchased it, and tell them to let you hear for yourself that there is sound. If there is indeed sound, than you might have the speakers hooked up wrong, or the speakers are just no good. Often times, the speakers are plugged into the wrong port in the computer.

Just go to Radio Shack and buy some RCA jacks, the length of wire that you need and a soldering iron. Those inexpensive extension cords (12 and 15 foot) at the dollar store make good speaker wire, as copper is better. Just cut off the ends. Speaker wire from an electronics store is expensive.
If you decide to go to Radio Shack or similar store, the clerk should be able to explain everything to you, if not, run, don't walk to another store. You will eventually find someone to help you. If you don't know how to solder, just go to google and type in "how to solder". I'm sure you'll get plenty of hits.

Yes ! all you have to do is go to radio shack and tell them you want a coaxil to RCA adapter (screw coaxial into wallplate and plug RCA end into sub and your all set!)

Based on the fact that you have put a headset in and another speaker system and it is working properly there is nothing wrong with your windows settings. I would leave them alone. The issue appears to be with the hardware. Have you attempted to plug the speakers into another source (ie. cd player, ipod, etc)? If you plug them in there and they don't work, take the speakers back and have them exchanged. If they're not under warranty you're going to have to either get them fixed or replace them.
