I was using my dell latitude d510 just fine the other day the only thing that was wrong is the battery wont charge so it always had to be plugged in. well from using the charger so much it finally stop...

The problem could be with the port the cord connects too. It could also be with the battery. If you take the battery out, and you still can't run on AC power, you need to replace the port. Take it to a computer/hardware shop and have it done.

Battery plugged in, but wont charge

This can be either a bad battery or a bad dc port on the system board. No other way to tell for sure without swapping parts like trying a new battery. Can you take the battery out and run the laptop off the dc power cord?

Plugged in but not charging

Try removeing the battery, fire up the unit and while running, install battery.
If that does not work, have you checked out the battery.??

Try taking out memory card, if there's a sound, memory card faulty. If no sound, it's your motherboard that is causing the error.

Note: If machine is under warranty no need to pay for the repairs.

Power problems Inspirion 8600-battery not charging

Most Dell batteries have an LED indicator that allows users to see how much run time and how much overall battery life are available at the touch of a button.
To check battery charge, press the button and the number of lights that appear will tell you charge status. If all lights appear, you have a fully charged battery. Each light that appears accounts for approximately 20% charge.
To check the battery health, press and hold the status button on the battery charge gauge for at least 3 seconds. If no lights appear, the battery is in good condition and approximately more than 80 percent of its original charge capacity remains. Each light represents incremental degradation. If five lights appear, approximately less than 60 percent of the charge capacity remains, and you should consider replacing the battery
if the ac adapter will power the laptop without the battery installed its fine. if the cord is fine and your battery is fine its a mother board issue and it will most likely have to be replaced

Dell inspiron 1501 work fine turn off last night now wont turn on

You mentioned trying a different battery, try a different AC adapter.

When plugging in the ac adapter to the wall, see if the POWER LED comes on on the adapter, then when you connect it to the computer, see if the LED stays on.

If the issue occurs with both AC adapters (No battery installed) then the motherboard has failed. If one ac adapter works but the other doesn't then the adapter is bad

Battery/charging issue

This generally indicates that the battery is worn out and needs replaced. I would also bet that the battery light is flashing orange. This is afterall, just a battery, and batteries eventually wear out. Replace the battery and everything should be fine.
