CX 6000 printing issues

Hi,
I have the CX 6000 and I'm presented with an irritating problem.

I am out of the yellow ink and I am looking to only print black and white. I don't need the color and yet it will not allow me to print at all until I replace the darn thing.
I have tried using the advanced settings and switching it to black only and have changed the document to gray-scale. There is no need for the color ink.

Is this going to be something I have to expect every-time I run out of a cartridge? Because if so then I might as well chuck the thing. I've never had so many frustrating problems than with this Epson printer.

Thanks bunches, I'll be waiting for an answer ^-^

I have the Same problem, i replaced one ink, then it said the rest of mine was to low, so i replaced them all, after spending $60 on new ink, now my printer says i have a paper jam, and can not print, BUT THERE IS NO PAPER JAM, the printer will not feed the paper. SOLUTION, dont buy this printer, or go OFFICE SPACE on it. man it's good to be a gangsta!

My Officejet 6000 E609n printer doesn't print the correct colors. The red is printing yellow and the blue and green are a lighter version of what is on the screen. I have cleaned the printer head

Hi,

This is not a cartridge issue. IT is Printhead issue. Since you have done the manual cleaning, it is now time to replace the Printhead.

Suhail

Are you using Epson Genunie Cartridges?

Hello, In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. That sounds like your problem. Also in Purchasing the Brother's . Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, etc. These printers have a chip, that will detect if it is Generic or Genunie. When using Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors.

That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, but you have to fill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.

So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. Don’t waste too much ink in cleaning it.

This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.

Thanks and Good Luck :0)

Problem with printing - streaks yellow and green not all colours are printing, not used for some time but new cartridges have been put in

Follow these steps to print a nozzle check:

  1. Turn off the Stylus CX.

  2. Load letter-size paper in the sheet feeder.

  3. Press the cp_button_48_er.gif ink and cp_button_1.gif On buttons together and hold them down for about 3 seconds.

The Stylus CX turns on and prints a test pattern, which includes anozzle check. Shown below are some examples of what the nozzle checkmay look like.

Nozzle check pattern with no gaps im_158_er.gif
Nozzle check pattern with gaps im_159_er.gif

If any of the colors is missing, perform a head cleaning routine. It appears that the magenta head is having some problem. Try printing again after performing a head cleaning task. If the problem continues you might need to replace the head.

Thank you.

Will not print. Shows I -02

Hi, this is not a solution because I don't think there is one apart from buying new inks. You need to consider 2 things, firstly the official line: Epson (and all other inkjet manufacturers) do this to prevent the coloured print head nozzles from getting blocked. If they are not used for a long time the ink dries up and blocks the nozzles. Epson recommends printing at least once a month with all colours to prevent this. Whenever the printer is turned on it performs a head clean, this is why the coloured inks get used over time even though they are not used for printing. It is also why the "print in Black only" option (available on some printers) only works when the coloured inks are OK.
The 2nd unofficial line is that it is a win-win situation for manufacturers. Firstly they get to cut down on costly warranty call outs for blocked heads (replacement printers, technician manhours, etc) and secondly they get to sell lots more inks (Ka-ching!). If you really want to print black text only (and save cash on price per-print) then a mono-laser printer is the best way as they can now be bought at inkjet prices.

Black ink not printing

You have to run a head cleaning cycle:
Follow these steps to clean the print head:

  1. Make sure the Stylus CX is on and the cp_light_183_er.gif ink light is off.

  2. Hold down the cp_button_48_er.gif ink button for 3 seconds until the cp_light_1.gif On light starts flashing. The Stylus CX runs a head cleaning cycle and the cp_light_1.gif On light flashes.

alert_caution.gif Caution: Never turn off the Stylus CX while head cleaning is in progress. You may damage it.

  3. When the cp_light_1.gif On light stops flashing, turn off the Stylus CX.

  4. Load letter-size paper in the sheet feeder.

  5. Press the cp_button_48_er.gif ink and cp_button_1.gif On buttons together and hold them down for about 3 seconds. The Stylus CX turns on and prints a test pattern, which includes a nozzle check. Shown below are some examples of what the nozzle check may look like:

Nozzle check pattern with no gaps im_158_er.gif Nozzle check pattern with gaps im_159_er.gif

  6. Examine the nozzle check. If it does not look like the nozzle check pattern with no gaps as shown above, repeat steps 2 through 6.

alert_note.gif Note: If you don't see any improvement after cleaning the print head three times, turn off the Stylus CX and wait overnight. This lets any dried ink soften. Then try cleaning the print head again.

If you do not use your Stylus CX often, it is a good idea to print a few pages at least once a month to maintain good print quality.

CX 5400 prints only in yellow

Go to http://www.TheServiceManualShop.com and get a service manual. They also have a thing called something like "Loss of Ink countermeasure" which shows you exactly where to go and what to do to rectify the loss of ink, which is a known fault on certain CX models. You can also look at my previous posts to complete an under head cleaning routine which help both the head and the blocked tubes. look here at this old post to see jow to clean the head and pump http://www.fixya.com/support/t137335-problem_print_outs_from_printer
