Question about Nintendo Wii Fit for Wii

Open Question

WII FIT CANNOT READ DISC

Bought  the Wii Fit after almost a month of scavenging online and in shops. Played and tested it, third day it conked out saying cannot read disc. I thought some lens problem, tested my other Wii games with no problem at all.
Anyone got idea to sort this out? I don't want any solution of returning it to the shops or technical support which is the last resort. Thanks.

we have had Wii fit since last summer. All of our data is saved. We play it at least once a day! Today, no matter what we do, it says it cannot read disk. We just systme upgraded last week. We've cleaned the disk. It has NO WARPING. What could be wrong?

Have you run the latest system upgrade? From the Wii Menu screen, click on the Wii Settings. On the top right corner of the screen, it should say something like 3.3U. If it shows 3.2U or lower, then the operating system is in need of an upgrade. If you do not have access to the internet through your Wii, this can be a challenge. I don't know if this will solve the problem or not, thus only offered as a clarification.

SOURCE: Can't Get Started my Wii Fit because CD Can't Be Read

Be sure the disk is clean, and if that does not work, exchange it at the store it was purchased at for a new one. There have been many Wii games shipping with the wrong region CD.

SOURCE: "Step Off Me and Press A" message while not on wii board

When you get this message, lift the board off the ground, press A, and wait until you get to the confirmation screen before placing the board back on the ground. You may have to try a few times to get the timing right. I have no idea why it thinks someone is on the board, but this workaround has solved the problem for us. Good luck.

My wii fit plus disc reads cant be read when inserted in to the wii help please can it be fixed

Hi lyned1,

If the Wii is having trouble with a disk, it means there's either a problem with the disk or the Wii. If your Wii can't read any disks then you'll want to contact Nintendo. Otherwise you need to investigate your disk.

If you hold the bottom side of the disk to the light you should be able to see if there's a smudge or scratch. If it's a smudge, cleaning the disk will often fix the problem. Use the microfiber cloths used to clean eyeglasses or, short of that, a tissue. Just rub the smudged spot. (When using a tissue I generally steam up the spot with my breath first.) If the disk looks good, put it back into the Wii and see what happens.

A scratch is more problematic. If it's a game you just bought, try exchanging it where you bought it. Otherwise you can try polishing out the scratch.

Some older Wii units also have trouble with dual layer discs, If your Wii is having trouble reading a dual layer disc you can try Nintendo's Wii lens cleaning kit. And also you can try to use a different disk to check if your system will be able to read it. then try the Wii Fit Plus If after all that, your Wii still can't read the disc, it's probably just a bad disc.

Thanks for using Fixya.

It doesn't recognize the wii fit plus disc it tells me to insert disc

Are you inserting the disc properly? And when is the last time you ran a laser lens cleaner through your Wii system. Dust and contaminants can cause disc read errors.

Disc doesn't work when I change from body test to training on Wii

Wii Fit? The problem can be that your Wii is modded (IF ITS MODDED), or that the disc contains scratches.

Unable to read disc

If (1) this error only occurs with the Wii Fit game and (2) you have no scratches or marks on the game disc and (3) you have cleaned your Wii with a lens cleaner product recently; then, most likely the Wii Fit game disc is bad. It's not your Wii.

here's the problem: the wii fit game is 4.7gb. Most wii games are 4.4gb. Burning a Wii game at 2x speed is fine if its 4.4gb.

For Wii games that are 4.7gb (full size of a DVD disc) the games must be burned at 1x speed or errors will occur.

It is likely that Nintendo burned these at 2x speed and therefore your wii is getting an error due to them incorrectly burning the disc.

I get a can't read disc message with my wii fit

even small scratches can cause disk read errors. Try cleaning it again with a little white spirit using a soft cotton cloth then dry it off with a soft cotton cloth. If it still does not read, a lot of 'game' shops repair scratched disks for about £3.00.

I hope this helps

I got wii fit the disk wont work !!!!!!

If Wii gives Disc Read Error, first step you need to check is to try another disc or clean the exisitng disc. This will confirm that problem is with either Wii or Disc. If the console itself is giving disc read error then it needs to be repaired. You may check out DIY Wii Fix Guide, that will show step by step information to fix the problem yourself.
