Remove the RAM chip from the motherboard and take it to your nearest computer shop and ask the techo there if it can be upgraded.

Hi KF27,

Your system has and supports PC SODIMM DDR RAM with a MAX support of 1GB. You currently have 512MB of RAM (2x 256MB), so your only option is 2x 512MB of RAM..

I hope this helps you out!

I would guess (becuase the manufacturer does not say) that it should support PC2700 DDR333 200PIN SODIMM RAM, but if that does not work, you will have to downgrade to PC2100 DDR266 RAM..... If you remove one of the RAM modules, it should specify what type it is (IE, PC3200, PC2700, PC2100)

I recently purchased 2 1gb pny ram ram sticks hoping to upgrade my ram. After installing the 2 sticks the computer doesnt boot. I reinstalled the original 2 512mb sticks and the computer works fine. Is my...

Without the computer model and make I can't say if it is upgradable or not. Most are upgradable to some extent. You will need to look for the product description of your laptop on the manufacturer website you may want to download the user manual from them or check the manual you have if you still have it. Yo9u are looking for the max ability of the computer and at the speed and type requirements for your ram. Also, you should know that some companies make Ram of the correct type and class but for some reason will not work in some models. I have Kingston ram 2gb modules that will not work in my Laptop but I purchased Siemens Ram of the same type and it works fine. So it may just be a matter of Ram Manufacturer.

Need to replace / upgrade my RAM. What type is it ?

The type of ram you will be looking for is DDR SDRAM (186-pin). Each stick can be around 128MB to 1GB. However, you should look inside your computer first to make sure you can upgrade it and know how many slots are available for you to upgrade. If you do have a manual, check the Qualified Vendor List to see if the memory sticks are compatible.

Need that number before i can find the correct manual for your machine.

In any case, the ram should be accessible via a small panel on the bottom.
