Re: problem with a linksys ethernet cable router
The router may need to be reconfigure since you lost the internet connection , If you still have the setup CD you can just run it again or better call Linksys Tech support so they can walk you through with the process the number is 800-3267114 you can call them any time of the day..

Linksys Routers are one of the best Home wireless router .
I am quite sure that you are looking to setup linksys router with your internet connection.
1. First make sure modem is getting Internet .
2. Now Connect Your modem with Linksys wireless router using Ethernet cable .
3. Make Sure modem Should be Connected to W.A.N (Internet) port of your router .
4. Now its Time to Configure linksys Wireless router - Please Connect the router with your Computer using the Ethernet cable .
5. Make sure First Port (LAN 1) of your Linksys router needs to be connected with your Computer Using the Cable .
Hi There, first of all you need to connect from your modem or router's port a link. Use a cat5 ethernet cable from the modem to the switch or if you also use a router from a port in back to the switch. Then when you plug in other computers it will see the internet connection.
You need to connect a router to the cable modem. The router then gets an IP address from Comcast and provides a gateway between the computers connected to the router.
The modem expects to communicate with a single Ethernet device, and provides an IP address to the first device that provides a piece of data called a MAC address. By placing a router in-between, the router gets the IP address that lets you communicate on the Internet. It provides local IP addresses to the equipment connected to the local Ethernet and "routes" those to the Internet. You can either hook your two devices into the router if it has enough ports, or hook you switch to the router and hook your PC and PS3 into the switch.
Might I suggest checking out this site, http://www.ps3chat.com/playstation-3-online/1351-routers-ps3.html . I think that the Linksys router is having issues keeping the connection alive on your PS3. You should also consider setting a static IP.
Ok, cable (coax) comes in from wall and attaches to modem. Ethernet cable goes from modem to WAN Port of router. You may have to reboot both devices to ensure that your modem (internet service provider) assigns IP address to your router. If PC is close enough, attach new ethernet cable from one of the 4 ports on your router down to your PC's ethernet adapter. (where your modem used to plug into). Router will now assign an IP address to your PC and you should be able to access the www.
Good Luck and let me know if you have any more questions.
Which Linksys router do you have?
If it has 4 ethernet ports in the rear of the router you will need CAT 5 cable to run from the router to the computer...
One cable per computer...
The computer needs to have a network card in it...
So the setup is... WOW modem to Internet input on Linksys router and cables to each computer from the Linksys...
