I just bought an ILO player today and I plug the adapter into the back of the player itself that it came with and it makes a strange beeping sound that doesn't go away nor does the DVD player function at all.
I'd take it back before you can't and get your money back. I bought two ILO's !one was a DVDR04 and the other was a DVDR05 and they didn't last even 6 mo. and all ILO has to say is pay us and it will work again but for how long, Until they want more money. Ithink they rig them to fail in the programing so they can charge for more programing.

1: Get a movie and some popcorn.
2: Make sure the DVD player and the tv are turned on.
3: Push the button on either the front of the player or on the remote to open the player door to load the disc.
4. Put the disc on the tray that pops out
5. Push the same button pushed previously to close the door
6. Enjoy the movie
The iLo DVDR05 is essentially the same machine as the Cyberhome 1600 and you can download a manual for the Cyberhome 1600 at: http://www.retrevo.com/support/CyberHome-DVR-1600MU1-DVD-Players-manual/id/534ci861/t/2/
I have the same problem with rentals. Even discs barely scratched or with fingerprints. The ilo recorder is great for recording but not really a good player. Try watching a disc you recently recorded. If it still messes up maybe it needs cleaning? May be getting too hot too, check your clearance around your unit.
iLO DVDR05. iLo is Wal-Mart?s ?store brand?; the DVDR05 is actually the same as a CyberHome DVR 1600
Cyberhome and iLo are up for same, so their website has been taken down with basically a "For Sale" sign in its place.
I hope that helps you a little. I will see if I can find a download of the manual for either of these branded devices.
