Had the same problem on mine. Remove the chuck, then remove the snap ring on the back of the chuck( carefull, the housing will fall out once the ring is removed), on the side of the chuck you'll find a cam and small odd shaped spring held in by two cylender pins, on mine the spring had a gap in it and I just spread the gap to about twice the size in was and put everything back together and it has worked fine ever sence. Hope it works for you.

How to remove keyless chuck

open the chuck jaws right up
down the center of the chuck you will see either a philips screw head or a hex head for allen key
hold the shaft at the base of the chuck to stop it from turning and undo the screw in the chuck in a right hand direction ( it is a left hand thread) when you have that out , still holding the shaft turn the chuck in the left hand direction ( normal thread ) and screw the chuck off
to assist in undoing the chuck do it up so that the jaws come out a bit
place something between the 3 jaws to act as a lever or use an allen key in the chuck done it tight and use that as a lever to undo the chuck
the secret is the lh thread screw in side the chuck which stops it from undoing when the drill is in reverse

How to remove chuck

if it is a reversible drill , open the chuck jaws open all the way and at the bottom of the chuck inside you will find either a phillips screw or a allen key screw
turn that screw in a clockwise direction as it is a lh thread and is a locking screw to stop the chuck coming off when used in reverse mode

hold the shaft at the base of the chuck and using something like vice grips on the chuck( section in from of the key teeth) grip firmly and hit hard with a hammer on the grips to undo normally

How to remove a chuck from a DCD995 20V brushless cordless Drill/Driver/Hammerdrill

Look first how it looks inside the dcd995 its a tool with a little question mark about pos 24 in this tool dcd995 owners look at the drawing and list because i have repaired last week the first one of this dcd995 tools and i have not seen before this part so i looked it and have my toughts about it i was seen with 30 years experience about electronic it could simply be have no function !! i have made a phone call about this part in Dewalt Belgium asked about it why it was cost (in the beginning € about 16 euro,s here in the Netherlands ? no concrete answer was coming , so it has no function they could not tell me.
Never have marketing technical fakeparts i will call it find in tools but this is a mistery about a tool from almost 2 years old and still in production look it yourself on the drawing pos24 and the parts list . There was made a special axle end fixing tool for chuck removal a special tool was made by Dewalt for some type of chucks. but its still have function for the difficult/tiresome chucks that are damaged,

For the people with the special tool Remove all parts of the gearbox to and up pos 14 the special tool will be made for setting right up in a bench vise a round plate with in the middle an axis thats having an elliptical hole at the tip That fits exactly of the chuck spindle axis so there is no resiliency and wants to prevent damage or some planetary gears have now changed the drawing without the part pos 24 nice and quickly done on dcd995 good job But today 18-12 i looked on the Dewalt service outside of Europe and i have found the old drawing of that dcd995 still with the pos24

When in reverse chuck will not stay tight. (when removing screws or whatever chuck will loosen and let bit fall out)

I would start out blowing out the chuck with high pressure air because you might have some saw dust or other item causing friction that is allowing the chuck to move. Then I would spray a lot of WD-40 down the chuck to float any contaiminents up.

My 18 volt dewalt cordless runs well except when I try to remove something with it. Reversing the drill makes my nutdriver bit fall out as it opens the chuck, so all removals have to be done by hand.

I would make sure that the bit is firmly installed in the chuck, you should hear clicking when the bit is tightening, this is the chuck locking itself on the but. and when going in reverse make sure you dont have your hand or have the chuck pressed against an object. If nether of these are the problem then there may be a problem with the chuck itself and should be replaced.

Need to know when removing a chuck from a drill is it clockwise or counterclockwise?

The retaining screw at the bottom of the chuck ( down inside where you put the drill bit) is reverse thread. the chuck itself is regular thread. Take out the retaining screw, chuck a 3/8 inch allen wrench ( short side) into the chuck just like a drill bit. Lay the drill down on a work bench with the chuck pointing towards you and the allen wrench clear of the table. Hit the allen wrench with a hammer, ( may take a few tries) in a counter clockwise direction. the chuck should unscrew.

Need to replace the chuck on a Bosch 1194 VSR Model number 0 601 194 739

open the jaws of the chuck up all the way. There is a retaining screw at the bottom ( under where the drill bit would go). this screw is reverse thread. once the screw is out, get a 3/8 inch allen wrench. chuck the short end into the drill chuck. set the drill on a workbench with the chuck hanging off the edge a bit. Hit down on the allen wrench with a hammer ( counter clockwise) and the chuck will unscrew normal thread.

Drill bit Stuck (and then broke off)!

Keyless chucks have two parts (see pictures) when the drill is in operation both parts spin. Assuming you put the drill bit in and tightened the keyless chuck by hand, put on a work glove and grasp the part of the chuck at the front of the drill, grasp the other part and twist the front part anti clockwise.
If this does not work you can hold the front of the chuck and reverse the direction of the motor as if you were unscrewing something, then pull the trigger. If your hand does not grasp the chuck tight enough it will slip, hence the glove. If this does not work you may have to hold the front of the chuck in a vice or with caliper pliers and again the pull the trigger with the drill in reverse.
All this depends on what you used to put the drill bit in with your hand tight or held onto it with something else. Whatever was used should be enough to loosen the chuck
Hope this helps.
If it does let fix ya know.
