Question about Alpine CDA-9856 CD Player

1 Answer

MP3 Tag text

Has anyone seen where the Artist, Album & Title display as ypa, ypb, ypc.... instead of the actual text? I put the same disc in my son's Pioneer and the MP3 tags all display as expected. The music plays just fine.

How do you display the time once the clock is set?

There is a small button next to the search button that has a circle on it, if you press this you will be able to change the display from artist or song title to the clock setting.

Hi. My Alpine IDA X100 doesn't want to read the track from my flash drive. I have tried it with different flash drives like 8GB and I bought an Adata 32GB flash drive hoping for no issues but here it...

Compatibility issues can come from a couple different places when dealing with digital media. I looked up your device here http://reviews.cnet.com/car-audio/alpine-ida-x100-digital/4507-3425_7-32790566.html for your digital specifics. I am under the assumption that you are trying to play MP3 files. Your Alpine reads ID3 tags and this could be where a lot of your issues are coming from and some could possibly come from the file name of your MP3's. Most car audio decks are not equipped to handle characters that people put in the MP3 names or ID3 tags. If you notice how the working MP3's are titled on your Alpine's display it usually reads something like "song - artist". If there are characters like "~ # ^ $" or something to that effect, your Alpine might not be able to read that. If the MP3 name is already written like "song - artist" then the problem could be in the ID3 tags and they could have unreadable characters in there which are not visible to you without a ID3 tag editor. In this case, download a free ID3 editor, trying clearing it out or modifying it to a simpler format, edit your file names as needed and try that out.

Some albums in USB stick are not recognized by JVC X40 USB reader

hi mark, before going further try this out.......use a smaller usb stick like a 4gb or 8gb with some music mp3 data arranged in folders like the way you have, and check out the response/performance. from my experience many car units cannot run/decode info from large capacity usb drives. if this also does not work then check out your nearest jvc service centre for advice. cheers.

KD-HDR40 will not play any CDs, only displays a "CD reading" message.

Sounds like CD mechanism failure. Did some sticker or anything went inside? Any way, need service.

G'day, I have owned and looked after my DXZ735 MP since 2004 and have recently had a new pickup fitted and a full service, along with some new firmware. The Title 'tags' have never worked properly and I...

I don't think there is anything wrong with how your doing the ID3-tag..
Have you tried pressing the [D] button while playing one of these disc's..
It sounds to me like it's reading the CD title as the ROOT (main) folder.
I found this in the manual:
Displaying CD titles
This unit can display title data for CD-text/MP3/ WMA disc and user titles input with this unit.
1. Press the [D] button to display the title.
2. Each time you press and hold the [D] button for 1 second or longer, the title display changes in the following order:
User title (disc) ? CD-text title (disc) ? Artist name ? CD-text title (track) ? User title (disc)... Folder ? File ? Album TAG ? Artist TAG ? Title TAG ? Folder...
For more info have a look at the online manual:
http://www.clarion.com/us/en/MungoBlobs/89/552/DXZ735MP(Manual).pdf
You will find the info on page 12 through to 13.

Will not play all songs on mp3 cd

It's possible you are reaching the 99 folder limit of the deck. Count how many folders (artist folders and album folders) there are between Alkaline Trio through John Butler Trio. The manual says there is a maximum of 99 folders acceptable, but it doesn't say what happens if you have more.
I also assume the bitrate of the songs is 320kpbs or below, yes?
The manual also mentions "Folder hierarchy is allowed up to eight tiers. However, practical hierarchy of folder is less than two tiers", whatever that might mean.

Kenwoods are awesome. Read the manual, sometimes it gets confused with the Folder trees, if you have to many it goes crazy. It could also be the way the disk is burned, and how the songs are named. I beleive in display options too you can click how things are displayed i.e. folder, artist, song name, title, time. Read your manual.

Burn the CD using Window media Player. Also if your Head Unit will play MP3 files, Burn a MP3 format disc. It will display everything including the Author.
