Hi,

At GoVacuum we put together a General Miele Maintenance video together for Miele Owners. Although the video showcased in the video is not specifically your Red Star machine, the filter installation is going to be the same.

Blows hepa filter from mounting

I have seen generic filters do this. Be sure to use original Miele filters. The generics are a few dollars cheaper to buy but you end up with an inferior quality filter that could cause other problems by continued use. same is true with bags.

A clogged filter may also do this. Miele vacuums are very tightly sealed, the exhaust air has to come out. If the filter is clogged, the pressure could pop the filter out, HEPA filters are suggested to change out about every 50 hours, for most people this is between 1 - 1.5 years.

We had a Miele come in for service the other day with the same complaint, installed filter was a generic, customer said it was a new filter just installed. We replaced with an original filter and problem ceased.

Where do you put the prefilter on a miele canaster vaccuum

Hi If the power head isn't working it may be clogged. Try taking it apart to see if threads and general dirt has got in at the sides. Also without the power head if the Miele still isn't working then its a possibility that the on switch wiring is either loose or check the plug at the end of the power cord.

Miele Red Star model S314. Cord reel is stuck. About three feet of cord is out. The rest of cord is jammed inside machine? How do I get to where the cord reel is?

It is actually simple when I tell you, Here we go...

First, open the lid and take the bag, and hepa filter out of the machine.

With a slot screwdriver, pry the hinges of the bag door out a little and take the bag door off.

You should see one screw holding the black black panel, remove that. When that is out, you can pull the black panel off. It will give a little resistance to you, do not be afraid of breaking it, it will come off.

Next you will see 4 or 5 screws down the holes there, remove all of them and the final remaining red piece will come off. When you pull this off, it will have both the cord rewinder and the motor assembly attached to it. It will be heavy becasue of the motor. Before you pull out the cord rewinder, just have a look at it closely and you may be able to just fix it without removing anything else.

good luck with it.

My Miele Solution HEPA 5000 vacuum cleanr gives off a burning smell but will continue to run with a varying motor tone. I have not run it for more than a minute like this. I have reviewed responses to...

Check both the bag and the HEPA filter behind the bag, torwards the motor. The HEPA filter could be clogged. Love these units but it takes clear attention to multiple filters.

My Miele Silver Moon "Reset" light is blinking. What do I do?

Greetings from GoVacuum,

Ahh yes, the Silver Moon. One of Miele's best made vacuums ever! So good that out of all the different vacuums that I could of chose for my home, the Miele S558 Silver Moon was the one I chose.

When you're Reset button is flashing, this simply means that it's time to replace the HEPA filter on your vacuum cleaner. Miele included this feature on their upper end models to alert the user when their filter needed to be changed.

The Miele Silver Moon uses Genuine Miele S-Class HEPA Filter for S300i/S600i, and Miele S7 Uprights. Miele Part # 04854915 (replaces 04854911) Which can be purchased from GoVacuum for $52.95 with free shipping.

Once you have installed the new HEPA filter, simply press down on the flashing Reset button to restart the 50 hour internal timer inside. Miele recommends to replace this filter after every 50 hours of vacuuming.

How do I install new filters on a Miele Blue Moon?

There are two filters on the blue moon. The hepa filter and the motor filter. You get to both filters the same way. You open the lid, like you do when you change a bag. The motor filter is right behind the bag inside a plastic cover. There should be two tabs you can pull down to open and access the filter. The hepa filter is located toward the back of the bag chamber but on top. There is one tab in the middle that lift up on.

Disassembly of Miele red star?

First remove the lid by opening it and pulling straight up while using a screw driver to pry on the black hinges that go straight down into the unit. After that there are two silver screws on the black pedal assembly pull up and back to remove this assembly . Remove the HEPA filter. Remove the screws under the pedal assemble and pull straight up. What ever you do do not remove the cord winder assembly it wil spring and you will have to replace it. For any parts, filter or bags for this or any other unit visit www.stevessewandvac.com
