Question about Honeywell Air Conditioners

1 Answer

I have just purchased a honeywell ct87n, could you please provide a schematic in order to connect it properly. I had someone install a honeywell digital thermostat several months ago, he did not tag the wires and the tenants complained that at times it was very cold and other times it wasnt cold enough. They broke the thermostat by constantly diconnecting and reconnecting it. I decided to get one that was non programable and pretty simple, I just want to be certain to install and wire it properly. Hope you can help.

Wiring schematic for an old honeywell R8325C1020-8514 fan center relay..

Without a picture Mike, I'm not sure this answer is absolutely correct but.... most of the old fan centers had a multitap transformer so different colored wires were provided to connect to 110v, 208v or 230v. If thats what it is, white was common to the black for 110v. White was common to orange for 208v and white was common to red for 230v.

If you have red and black hanging loose, possibly the center is connected to orange and white with 208v power supply. Of course many times, the orange and red were interchanged with 208v OR 230v.

Another point is that virtually all residential gas furnaces operate on 110v and 208/230v operated electric furnace.

As stated above, without a picture this is just a reasonably educated guess....Conventional furnaces less than 15 years old typically no longer have fan centers.

Ct87n thermstat is hooked up and the heater is on because i smell the heat but it is not blowing out the vent

The blower motor isn't running. At the thermostat, red wire to the R terminal white wire to W terminal.or W2 If the blower still doesn't run It's probably not the thermostat.

The compressor fan come on; I can hear a clicking (the compressor trying to click on, then immediately shut off. It will contiula doing this as long as the thermostat is set for the ac to come on. I...

Possibly a bad run capacitor, have a service tech test it and replace if it is bad. That clicking you hear is the internal overload in your compressor clicking off on high heat/amp draw and then cooling down and resetting itself.

I recently installed the Honeywell ct87n thermostat.....the AC worked fine all summer, but has been off now for 6 weeks. When I turned in on to heat / automatic...nothing happens...neither the AC or Heat...

Check for a fuse in your AC/Heating system either on the control board or in-line on a wire. Make sure the wires are correct to the thermostat.

Just installed a honeywell thermostat (CT87N) fan runs but compresssor does not

Make sure you have the green thermostat wire hooked to the G terminal. You can also place a jumper between R and G to see if the fan will come on once the green wire is connected.

I need to move a thermostat but I can't get the thermostat separated from the wall mount. Is there a trick to this? Thermostat is a honeywell ct87n/k.

I can help you out on this , there should be about 3 flat head screws that are difficult to see under the round cover/front cover , there should be 3 peices to the entire t-stat , the front comes off easy and then there are the 3 screws and then the base mounted to the wall. let me know how this works.
