Also check to see that the nut on the male connection to the external water tank is tight. Mine dripped because the nut was loose.

More than likely, either the tubing that drains water to the tanks(s) has become disconnected or it is clogged. I betting that it's clogged. to troubleshoot this, follow the instructions below.

Turn the unit OFF & Unplug it.

Remove the water collection buckets and look up inside the bucket holder cavity. You will see either a drain hole or small tubing that drains the water into the bucket. Using an appropriately sized, 18" long, plastic Zip Tie, carefully insert the tip of Zip Tie into the hole or tubing. Continue to push it in until you reach a bend in the tubing. You will need to gingerly work the Zip Tie past this bend, until it either bottoms out or you run out of usable Zip Tie. Then slowly pull the Zip Tie back out while rotating (twisting) it. This will breakup any clogs. As you reach the inserted end of the Zip Tie, be prepared, as some water may follow. Reinstall the bucket, plug the unit in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Allow the unit to run, while you monitor it for any leakage.

NOTE: If you don't have a Zip Tie, you can use something similar, like a long pipe cleaner. NO wire coat hangers though.

Hope this helps you solve the problem.

Why does my Danby DPAC9006 Portable AC fill up with water so quickly all of a sudden?

ac units work by removing water vapor from the air
That accounts for the water that is getting into the collector
now if the water volume is increasing , it can be from an increase in humidity of the air
portable units have to have an opening ( window or door ) to pass out the hot air and that allows more moisture laden air into the room. Maybe the next unit you get is fixed so that all of the doors and windows can be kept closed

Water resevior is empty and light stays on?

If the high water level switch closes, the
compressor and condensor fan motors shut
off, and the water full indicator LED lights. The
water must be drained manually. Since you have dumped the water the high water level switch must be stuck in the off position. Page 42 of this manual shows the high and low water switch cover plate removed and the floats. Check the floats to see if something is making it stick or it has a hole in it. This manual is from WP but I imagine all of them type ACs come from the same source. PORTABLE AC SERVICE MANUAL

My air conditioners is a everstar model mpa-08cr, and i need to instal the water hose on the side of unit.

Hey there, just follow these simple steps then you'll be on your way
To connect the continuous drain option. Remove
the water tank from the cabinet. Inside the
cabinet (water tank area) you will find a section of
hose hanging beside the water tank, which is plugged
at the end. Remove the plug
from the end of the hose and install the drain hose connector
(included with this unit) into the
end of this hose section. Route the end of the
hose (with drain connection) into the water tank,
then through the hole provided in the face of the
water tank. Attach a section of garden hose (to
suit your continuous drain option requirements)
to the drain hose connector. Place the open end
of the hose directly over the drain area in your
basement floor.
Please make sure the drain hose
section routed through water tank does not interfere
with the correct positioning of the water tank inside
the cabinet, or the will fail-safe switch mechanism will
be activated, not allowing the unit to operate.

Try manually work the float and switch the float controls to make sure it is not hung up. You may need a new switch if that does not work.

Red flashing light

Hello,

Had the same problem, thing shutting off after an hour, no water in the tank. I had the external tank attached, was always bone dry. What I didn't know was on the side, there is a slide out tray which acts as the internal tank. The lid to that tank activates a micro-switch which tells the unit that it's full. This tank was dry too, but the switch was getting jostled, casuing it to trip. I've taped down the switch now, and it's fine. I check the tank every few days, just to be safe, but it's never got any water in it. Hope this helps.

Red light is flashing continuesly

Ok I found a temporary solution. I opened up the unit (yes there are a lot of screws) I checked the float switches and they worked and even unplugging the water level wire connection to the main board did not get rid of the red flashing light. But if you unplugged the connection from the front panel to the main board but leave the infrared remote still plugged in the main lights and control are not on but you can still work the unit by remote. When in this configuration the compressor will come on and the unit will cool. So I think that part of the problem is on the front panel circuit board or maybe somewhere on the main board. But physically the compressor/relay/ switches work. A short term solution until I can get a new board.

Cheers!

Danby water tank

this part is the indicator to activate the interlock that stop your deshumidifier when water tank is full. It activate a switch on the top right of the placeholder of the tank. when the switch is relaesed it tells you either thank is not there or full and light a red signal. the center of the wheel should be back the pivot. if the pivot is broken, i don't suggest you to forced the switch activated unless you use the direct drain, or you might have water spilled over a full bucket!
