Samsung LNT4665F screen goes black

It seems to happen only when humidity is high.  Started just before warrantee ran out.  Technician takes it to his shop and it works fine there, so he can't figure out what to replace.

Hi,

Possibly power or heat related issue. A couple of things you can try:

  • when using the Samsung, pls try to temporarily place a blower or an electric fan at the rear of the unit to help improve air circulation. If problem does not appear, then heat related and the tech/shop can simulate with the use of a hot air blower to pinpoint culprit;
  • use a filtered power strip or even a computer UPS with sufficient power rating;
  • plug the unit in a different wall outlet.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Have you thought of purchasing a dehumidifier to take some of the moisture out of the air?

ushally the mini dehumidifers go for around 50 bucks and if place in the general area of the tv it should help with the moisture around the unit.

would have to dump the unit once a day but would be worth it.

Due to the moisture on the board, the board short tracks some where and turns the screen black and goes off to avoid further damage.again it will work for sometime and will again go black due to short tracking.the solution for this is to dry your board completely with a hot air dryer and cover the tv to avoid the gathering of the moisture causing the same problem again.nothing to worry it happens most of the time when the humidity is high.dont even think of replacing anything your unit is completely fine and behaving normally.

pls do rate the solution

thanks.
regards.

Why does Samsung tv go off and on continually on and off , no pic, no sound?

Samsungs have used inferior capacitors in the their power supplies for years. There was a bulletin that would fix certain models under a class action extended warranty. You may want to call Samsung with your model serial number and exact model-it may be one of these models- don't take no for an answer- if push comes to shove they will give you the name of a competent reapir center- google the information on the internet to see if it can be fixed for free- the parts are only about $15 if you buy the capacitors online and can find someone to replace all 6 of them it does require soldering them in and out. I have fixed 3 of them that people were throwing away-

Yes. There are small adhesive indicators which are placed inside of the television which change colors once exposed to water or high humidity. Normally from white to pink. Same goes for modern cell phones.

Vertical Black line 3 inch width on Plasma Samsung 42C96HD after 2 months of use

On al the plasma tvs there are control boards on the lower part of the screen that control the vertical images. If one of the chips on one of the boards fail, have a bad connection, or no ground it will result in a thick black lne down the screen. Seeing as the tv is new I would get the warrantee repair on it. There is a possibility that there is a problem with the screen itself but more than likely its the boards.
