Grinder blocked on coffee machine - Saeco Incanto Classic Espresso Machine

  • 1 more comment

This is probably the most frustrating problem about the machine (we have the deluxe version). Our machine is new and we get this message ~10-20 times a week. Our previous Saeco made > 15,600 cups of coffee (according to the counter) before its pump died and never experienced a problem like this.

The frustrating this is: the grinder does not actually appear blocked. It spins for a second, stops, and prints the error message. We have tried various things, but mostly we restart the machine and then shift the beans around or fiddle with the shield above the grinder. The problem clears after ~5 tries.

Still looking for a better solution...

Error 1 - How to Resolve Grinder A Blocked?

The grinder is the problem. Inside the grinder is a white gearwheel. Change the gearwheel (cheapest way) or change the grinder and reset all errors from service menu.

EA6935 krups powdered coffee inside grinder and coffee grounds noncompact

You will need to pull the grinder apart & clean it out. Most likely cause of the grinder blocking up is a leak somewhere inside the machine dampening the grounds as they exit the grinder. They bind up, won't fall out and there is your blockage. You will need to find and fix the leak, there are many, many places for the leak to be, it's a job for a Krups Service Agent. I have outer housings with cutouts in them so I can run them and look inside at the same time to find those troublesome leaks.

Fill beans

the coffee beans are not entering in the grinder disks and since they rotate without coffee the machine understands that their is no beans. You need to clean the grinder disk and grinding coffee funel to bee sure their nothing blocking the coffee movements. Use a vaccum cleaner and try to clean everything in grinder and grinder exits. Try also the machine by regulating thegriding to more gross coffee and when it will start grinding normal then you can udjust step by step back to grinding position you have at the begeining.

Grinder blocked

One posible problem is the coffee shute. This is leading aslo to the passage where you put the grinded coffee and cleaning tablets. This might have be clocked from dry coffee mixed with humitity or steam. So you can use a bending brush similar to the one used to clean babes milk bottles and at the same time vacum with air vacum cleaner.
You can make perfect cleaning if you remove the top platic panel and visual check that everything are perfectly cleaned.
The last thing that is possible for the problem is weak ginder motor which have lost its power so it can grinds but not have the power to push the grinded coffee all the way through chute to the coffee group. In this case you will need new grinder motor.
Hope that this can help you, good luck.

Water flow problem

Check the coffee chute to see if its clogged. It is easier to use a small amount of white rice to clean your grinder, about a teaspoon.

Coffee beans will not grind

Your machine will probably need service. The water will cause damage to the grinder burrs.  I can send you instruction on how to clean out the grinder on a Vienna if you provide me will your email address. You can email me at [email protected].

You are not the first person to do this. These problems come in at least once a week.

Hope this helps.
