It defiantly needs a battery. The camera has an electromagnetic shutter relese. It took me a while to figure this one out on my own. I thought I had a hunk of junk on my hands.

This Yashica FR's film advance is loose and does not wind the film, the shutter button does not work either! It has a new battery in it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not sure if I'm miss

yashika is a really cheaply built brand of camera, they always have been. as cheap as they have gotten now you might as well come up to the digital age. but if you are one of those hard core old school photographers then you can find some good canon, nikon or pentax film cameras on ebay really cheap. i wouldn't mess with this one any more

Yashica T Zoom dont turn on only shows battery outline flashe's

Have you found a solution to your problem?
I am having the same problems with my Yashica T4 Zoom.

At least I have a suspicion, what it could be! ;-)

I think one of the electrical components needs to be replaced. Behind the battery compartment there is a big capacitor installed. It is only to be seen, when opening the camera's body. I think that this capacitor might be broken. Since it is used to store energy, this might very well be the reason the camera does show a blinking battery symbol.

I don't think that the repair is worth the camera.

Sorry ... for the both of us. :-(

Old Program A camera -mirror jammed in open position and shutter will; not open when the shutter release butten is pressed

From what you've given, it sounds like the shutter is fried, or the mechanism jammed - or both. If you're wanting to keep the camera, and use it, you'll need to contact a repair technician and have them take a look at it for a repair estimate - assuming it's able to be repaired. Estimates will run you around $35 most places, if there's no shop near you KEH Camera which has a website is quite good.

The same thing just happened to my Nikon FE, and my estimates have been ranging anywhere from $105-145 to get it fixed, so the decision of whether to repair or replace if really left up to you.

Which is the difference between these two lenses: Yashica lens AF 35-70mm 1:3.3-4.5 Macro c Yashica lens AF 35-70mm 1:3.3-4.5 Do they work of different form?

I would think that the difference is in the "Macro".

Meaning the Yashica lens AF 35-70mm 1:3.3-4.5 Macro would be able to take close-up photos of smaller things like insects.

I hope that helps.

Shutter opens, but doesn't close? I advance my film, press the shutter release, and it opens, but stays open. The only way my shutter will close is if I press the battery check button. I read a trouble...

That camera needs tobe services. The IC2 is the technicians code that tells where to start. With the problems you describe it would be best ot let a technician overhaul and recalibrate it if possible. then you will have a camera that operates like new.

The self timer lever is stuck in the activated position of my Yashica-D. Is there an easy solution?

If the shutter release does not activate your timer and release the shutter, it probly needs taken apart by a repair guy. They can free the timer, clean out the old dried up lubricant, put in fresh lubricant, adjust everything and return it to you...working.

I don't know how to open it to put new film in?!?!!

Do you mean "Yashica"? If so, pull up on the film rewinder knob on the top-left side of your camera. The film door should pop open.

I still have my old Yashica "Electro 35". Don't use it anymore as I've gone digital, but it still is a pretty cool film camera.

Shutter problems

I am having a similar problem with my eos 100QD.
shutter opens, then stays open until I depress the shutter switch again.
Sometimes about half my photos are lost on a roll, but the other photos are fine (as would be expected from how the film is wound). This problem looks like it's caused by the shutter mechanism failing, a common problem with older camera and one that is often more expensive to repair than it is to replace the body.

My camera wont work right

did you mean the shutter wouldn't open and close?

if yes, this is common to most cameras idled for years. the shutter curtain or leaves stuck, or the electronic unit that powers the shutter mulfunction.

eBay sellers are not always honest. return it if you are lucky or file a complaint. let me tell you about my experience there. i bought a used Yashica, but when it arrived, some parts went wrong enenthough i specifically asked, the condition was not as stated, and lens cap seen on pic was not included. the seller was a kind of rude manner, he just refused to admit though eBay suspended him from trading.
