Stik2my playstation 3 wont play my games or blu ray dvds but it will play regular dvds

Ok your laser is bad. You need to replace it. Your laser has a blu ray diode which lights up blue and reads ps3 games and blu ray games. Then it has a red diode which plays ps2 games dvds cds ps1 games. Your blu ray diode is burned up. You will have to replace the laser its pretty simple.

The blu-ray laser is a 3 part laser (cd dvd and blu-ray) the blu-ray portion has failed. The only way to fix it is to swap the laser out with a working one.
It's not hard to do, there are 1000 tutorials on youtube.

Your blu ray drive is shot. The drive motor has to operate much faster to read a game then it does a regular DVD. Eventually your PS3 wont play DVDs but will play CDs.. same reason.. then nothing.
I would consider replacing now. Ebay is a good place actually to buy good blu ray drives for cheap. if your not under warranty I could get you a guide on how to do it, or you could send it to me and I could do it for you. Either way. let me know

clean the lens or it might need a new blu ray lens. . . check you tube for videos on how to do this

Will it play regular DVDs?
If it will play DVD's but not games then the blu-ray laser is bad. It will have to be replaced.
If it wont play either, then the drive is bad and must be replaced.
Both can be found on ebay. the swap isnt too hard but the components are a bit pricey.

Your Blu ray drive may be messed up. You might have to replace the lens which runs you about 70 USD>

The reason why DVDS still work and the blu-rays don't is because it's a three part laser. dvd / cd / blu-ray.

The blu-ray portion almost always goes out first.

It's a factory defect. I've fixed over 100 PS3's with the same exact problem. Your blu-ray laser went out. You need to contact Sony or if you're in Los Angeles you can contact me. I fix the problem for $120 and within 30 minutes. Sony charges $150+ and takes God knows how long.
