It looks like there is some kind of sensor that is not working (the cover sensor).
maybe you will need to check if anything is jammed.

I just changed my printer cartridges and I'm trying to print but I keep getting "door open" or "top cover open" message and nothing prints. My printer is a HP 5150

Open the cover. In right side you'll see the cover sensor. It's a plastic lever, which does down to the bottom of printer. The top side of this lever usually breaks.

Maybe something wrong with sensor which displays the state of the cover.
Try to find it.

Dell 922 "cover open" problem / error message

I had that problem too.

Unplug the printer.
Hold the printer cover open while you plug in the printer.
Then close the printer after it powers on.

It worked for me.

Printer cover open error message

I had that problem too.

Unplug the printer.
Hold the printer cover open while you plug in the printer.
Then wait for the printer to power on while still holding the cover open.
Then close the cover.
The buttons should work and th error message should be gone.

It worked for me.

Constant error message

Check the manual on how to RESET the printer. It is not always revealed - some makers like to keep some things secret from users. If there is not a separate RESET button or the manual does not tell you, then try pressing various buttons in the printer section in combination with the power off and whilst holding the down- power up. It will be a trial and error thing - so if you do find it- make note of it for you and post it here. Mean while do go to Canon Website and ask Tech support Also take a look at www.fixyourownprinter.com

HP1060 won't print

Have you looked at the front cover to see if the tab there is broken? (this will tell the PC that the front cover is still open) So you'll want to go around the edges of the printer cover to see if there's anything broken and a small hole in which the tab would insert into. If it is the case, and you don't want to spend money on fixing it, then do what I do...Rig up a paper clip and electrical tape to work as the tab, making the printer think that the front cover is always closed.
