Will not start

The problem is likely a blown thermal fuse.Disconnect power then access and bypass the thermal fuse on the blower housing. The blower housing is located on the front left bottom of the dryer cabinet if the dryer has the lint filter on the front or at the rear left bottom if the lint filter is located on the top of the cabinet.
Dryers with lint filter on the front.

Dryers with lint filter on the top.

Bypass the thermal fuse by disconnecting the wires and connecting them together. Insulate them properly and plug the dryer back in. The thermal fuse is indeed blown and needs to be replaced if the dryer starts. Do not use the dryer with the thermal fuse bypassed due to fire hazards.

I have a kenmore dryermofel 110.62212101 and the other day i put a load of was in and set timer closed door and pressed start button and nothing happened. i have since checked all plug connections and the...

This is a common problem caused by the thermal fuse blown. The thermal fuse is wired in series with the motor and will cause the motor not running if it blows. It is located on the blower housing at the rear of the dryer. Remove the rear panel to access the thermal fuse.

Once the rear panel is off, refer to the diagram and locate the thermal fuse on the blower housing. Disconnect the thermal fuse wires and tape them together or jump a wire between them. Insulate them properly then plug the dryer in and start the dryer.

The thermal fuse (part number 3392519) is indeed blown and needs to be replaced including the cycling thermostat, (part number 3387134) also on the blower housing if the dryer start starts and works fine with the thermal fuse bypassed. Do not use the dryer with the thermal fuse bypassed due to fire hazards.

How many thermostats are there and where are they located?

If the model number is correct, your heating circuits are comprised of the following components:

1. Heating Element
2. Thermal Cut-Out
3. Hi-Limit Thermostat
4. Internal Bias Thermostat
5. Thermal Fuse

You can access your heating circuits by UNPLUGGING the dryer and removing the rear panel.

As viewed from the rear of the dryer, your Heating Element will be located on the RIGHT hand side inside a heater box. The Thermal Cut-Out will be located on the outside of the heater box at the end opposite the heating element terminals. The Hi-Limit Thermostat will be located adjacent to the heating element terminals.

The Internal Bias Thermostat and Thermal Fuse are two small components mounted on the Blower Fan housing on the lower LEFT hand side.

You can refer to the following parts illustration for assistance:

The components are listed as follows:

Heating Element (Item 17)
Thermal Cut-Out (Item 9)
Hi-Limit Thermostat (Item 15)
Internal-Bias Thermostat (Item 8)
Thermal Fuse (Item 7)

Whirlpool dryer LER5636JQ0 won't turn on

The thermal fuse for your dryer is located behind the rear panel. With the rear panel removed, you can locate the thermal fuse as a small white plastic device located on the blower fan housing on the lower left-hand side (facing from the rear). A resistance reading should indicate close to a short (0 ohms). If the thermal fuse IS defective, the replacement part number is 3392519. You can find all this information at Just type in your model number and look under the "Bulkhead" heading on the next page. The thermal fuse is listed as item number 7. There's also helpful part locator diagrams to assist in troubleshooting. I hope you find this information helpful. If you need further assistance, please post back and let me know.
