You need a new hinge so the cover will sit down properly, or paper will jam anyway, but it sounds like there is still a scrap of paper on one of the sensors inside the ADF, you need to look with a flashlight down thru where the paper goes and also look up thru the slot with the ADF lifted.
How to clear the "Check Original " error message?
error can occur if the document being sent or copied is not inserted
properly, fed incorrectly or is too long. Follow the troubleshooting
steps and recommendations listed below:
Remove any paper that is not jammed from the ADF.
Open the top cover by lifting the lever on the right side of the top cover.
Pull the original toward the front of your fax machine.
Close the top cover. Press down on both sides of the top cover until it clicks.
placing the document(s) in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), verify
the error message "CHECK ORIGINAL" no longer is displayed on the LCD.
If the error message continues to appear on the display, unplug the
unit for 30 seconds and then plug it back in.
Hi I recently had this problem - tested fuser and all sensors. The fix is to reset the memory. To do this, enter the Maintenance mode. Menu, * 2864 (enter the number quickly) then type 01 ( zero one ), this will reset all memory including the user settings. Finally type 99 to exit Maintenance mode. The printer will restart and the error will be gone. Test out with copy and printer reports Hoping this fixes your problem Regards Lindsay
