Hi...generally when you power on with a sim card a message will prompt ,continue using without sim ? "Yes" or "No" if you want to activate with the sim you should press "NO"...Or sometimes this message doesn't show you can select it by activating "General" in the profile. So, as you said there might be some problem with the sim slot(socket),or the sim card IC may damage. Therefore the best way to solve your problem is to contact nearest mobile repairing shop. Thanks for visiting fixya
There are some possible solutions:- 1. Check that your sim card is in perfect condition by insering the sim card in any other mobile phone... If the ssame error appears then it means the problem is in your sim card 2. Check that your sim card's slot is in perfect condition by insering any other sim card in your mobile phone... If the same error occurs then it means the problem is in your sim card's slot 3. Check that you are insering your sim card correctly or not
Sir you might want to charge your phone and try to use other SIM Card if SIM card registration failed error still occur maybe its time to buy a new one
Possible reason why you are getting these error is because the sim card is OLD or already corrupted
its just the SIM card's connector's not working as they used to. Worn out on the surface, or inside.
Call up your wireless carrier and ask for a replacement SIM card. Its like a 20$ fee (depends on your service provide)r and you just plug it in when you get it, and carry on as usual.

My dear:
This error usually occurs when you attempt to use a SIM card from a network other than the network from which the phone originated (e.g. your Nokia mobile phone originated from Orange UK and displays the 'Sim Card Not Valid' error when you attempt to use a T-Mobile UK SIM card). The 'Sim Card Not Valid' error usually means the phone has been restricted for use on one specific network and you would need to unlock the phone before alternative network SIM cards can be used.
could You test the new SIM on another phone? Could be the housing of SIM damage on phone - hardware problem - Nokia Service.
in any case you need to find out which network and ask them for the unlock code.
Only the original network to which it is locked can provide this code.

it may be due to network lock, you can unlock it and switch over to another network , you can get unlock codes here http://www.theunlockarena.com/nokia-n73/rs13wp9/ you need to specify the country and network provider
Turn off the iPhone before inserting the sim, insert sim, turn on, import contacts. If you put the sim in the phone without restarting it for some reason it doesn't get all the contacts sometimes.
