My portable DVD player keeps displaying a message of "wrong region" instead of playing the discs

That means that the region code of the DVDs that you are trying to play in the unit do not match the region code that the player is set to. Often people buy DVDs for real cheap only to find that they are pirated copies from overseas and have other region codes that do not match their machine. If that is not the case, you need to check to see what region code your machine has. Most can be changed, but there is a limit to how many times you can change the region code on most devices so be sure to know what you want before you start messing around.

Does anyone know lock code for vcr/dvd player: Toshiba SD-V394SU? I want to play a region 2 dvd. Appreciate if someone could help. Joe B.

When a DVD disc is created, it is encoded with a "Region number." The disc will only play on DVD players with the same Region number - for instance, a Region 3 disc won't play on a Region 1 player.
Region 1: U.S. and U.S. Territories, Canada
Region 2: Japan, Western Europe, Middle East, South Africa
Region 3: South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast and East Asia Region 4: New Zealand, Australia, Pacific Islands, Mexico, Central/
South America
Region 5: Russia and the former Soviet Union, Africa, Indian
subcontinent, North Korea Region 6: China
The only way to get around the region codes, is to rip a DVD to your computer and remove the region code. Then burn the DVD to a DVD R. There are programs around on the net, but I'm not sure it is legal in all countries.
Google for the programs.
A DVD player sometimes allows you to change the region code once. But it not even would allow you to switch back after you changed it once.

I ordered a dvd that has been out for years online, and tried to play it, It won't play- saying region code, how can I change the region code?

Greetings Sandy - Sorry there is no known way to change the region code on that player. For some players there are region "hacks" that will allow the playing of discs from different regions.

If you know anyone who has the ability to copy DVD's to their PC and create another DVD that would be the only way around the problem.

Ask your more computer literate family and friends to see if any one knows how to do that.

Regards and thanks for using Fix Ya.

Changing the region code

Hi,

You can only change the region code a few times (usually 5), so I wouldn't do it. You should leave the current player at region 1, and buy and install another DVD player and set it to region 4, then you will have 1 for each region you want.

Regarding codes

hi janak911, Region coding is how Hollywood studios stagger dvd movie releases across the planet. These codes ensure that one country doesn't get a DVD movie before the same movie is out in that country's theatres. In their corporate omniscience, movie studios have carved the planet into regions with each region having a specific code.

All DVD players and discs have region codes. A DVD player and disc must be of the same region or the disc will not play.

If you want to watch movies from other countries, you need a multiregion DVD player. This will allow you to play any disc from any region. However, because TV standards differ, you might need a specialized NTSC/SECAM/PAL TV or a DVD player that can output any signal to the standard your TV accepts.hope u get the point.have a nice time.
