I have somehow lost the ability to sync music to my ipaq rz 3715. Media Player 10 says it cannot detect a device. I have pressed f5 to refresh and this does not fix it. This happened ever since I installed a video codec pack for media player. I have since removed the codecs to see if this fixes the syncing problem but it hasn't.
I also cannot see the device in 'My computer' so am wondering if my computer is not detecting the device at all. I have checked the cradle is plugged into a usb port (have checked using all ports. However my pc does make a sound when I put my ipaq in the cradle.
Any ideas how i can fix this?
You could try reinstalling WMP10. You can do this by going to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Add/Remove Windows Components. First you need to uncheck the bos to remove it, then go back in and recheck the box and it will be reinstalled.

Normal audio CD tracks should be converted to mp3 files onto the computer's hard drive, first.
This is called ripping or RIP function.
There are several programs that can RIP audio CD.
It is important to convert music into the correct bitrate for the player to match for playback. (192 kbps is good quality and often used)
You can use Windows Media Player 10 or 11 for conversion.
When you use WMP 10 or 11 and the player is detected in the program:
1. Tell the player were your music library is: setup your music library.
2. Create a playlist; make playlist name and add mp3 files to the list.
3. Synchronize the playlist with mp3 files to the player.
If the player cannot be detected in WMP 10 or 11, but only can be viewed as a removable disk in "My Computer" : use the "copy and paste" or "drag and drop" method to put mp3 files from the computer onto the player.

It should be recognized by your computer.
I did a search for drivers and they are not needed for this model.
For music, After the computer has recognized it has been plugged in. Start, My Computer, and it should show up in there as (my sansa or sansa clip) something along those lines.
You may open it and drag your music files into the accroding folders inside the device.
OR You may use Windows Media Player 11 to Sync to your Mp3 Player. The Sansa Clip has problems with Windows Media Player 10 so i would reccomend using Media Player 11 to sync.
For future help or more questions please comment,
I hope this has helped :)
Before you even think about installing this player, uninstall window media player 11 and get windows media player 10. Windows Media Player 11 ruins this player. Then, use windows media player 10 to sync music to this GoGear. You can get the software (which is not essential for basic use) at www.philips.com/support - enter country and model #, then click on software & drivers.
The Philips site offers the software you need.
If you have the Musicmatch player or windows media player 10
you should be able to download from either player
Through
this link, you can enter a variety of search terms that will help you
find what you are looking for (exs.: “add files to my mp3 player”;
“delete files from my mp3 player,” etc.)
Important Vocabulary:
The code word for “mp3 player” in Windows Media Player is “DEVICE” or “portable device”
The code word for adding files is “SYNC,” “syncing,” or “synchronizing”
The code word for copying files from CD is “RIP,” or “ripping”
The code word for files stored on both My Computer and my Mp3 player (when it is connected to the computer) is “LIBRARY”
To add files (SYNC) to your mp3 player using Windows Media Player 10:
The first thing to establish is is the Windows Media Player you default music player on your PC? Second, Can you see the files in the Media Library and/or in the 'Copy to CD or Device' list?
A hard reset will get it back for you, but you will lose your data. So either backup first, then restore it. Or sync to PC and back if it's just OUTLOOK data.
