Question about Epson Stylus 2200 InkJet Photo Printer

Not yet complete

Worldvet, We're close! I pushed the buttons in the correct sequence and got the lights to stop flashing!! I restarted the computer ,turned on the printer and it went thru it's usual sequence of buttons flashing and so on.Awesome!! However when I go to print, a window is coming up saying there's a communication error with the printer. Reset or turn the printer on. This alert usually comes up when I have the printer off. So does that mean I have to go to the link you sent me and go that route regardless?

No,
The issue rest in the fact you are on a Mac. You will want to do this to be thorough and get you back going again.

Uninstall your printer.
Disconnect your printer cable.
Restart your system.
Leaving the printer cable off, reinstall the printer software.
If you are prompted when installing to attach the cable do so only then or wait until the installation is complete.
With the cable reattached print a test page, etc.
You should be fine.
But let me know if you get stuck or don't understand.
Please, try to use the comment box below this to follow up.
Thanks,
Worldvet

BTW, when we're done, let me know; I'm sure you will. Our Free Forum is the best on the Web but mostly we get really esoteric questions such as: PC won't start. Questions we can't work with. You initial question had enough to attract me to the problem. And as a problem solver on PCs and Macs for nearly 25 years (I had a Mac Classic for ever) when there was no tech support in the early days, myself and many others here who are nearly retired work on this board to keep pace with the technology. And we love doing this. Sometimes we work in the pay area to gain money enough to buy parts for our projects but that's about it, a hundred or so a month.
But you may have to reinstall the drivers perphaps by

Reset printer

Please print printer settings configuration page. The page will explain the printer menus and change values. Menus are represented by Continue, Ready/Data, Toner Low and Load/Remove Paper light sequences. Menu Items and their values are indicated by Paper Jam and Error Light sequences

Here are the instructions to do that:

1. Turn off the printer.

2. Open the front access cover

3. Press and hold the red Stop button while powering up the printer.

4. The lights should cycle, release it when the light stops cycling.

5. Close the cover once the ! light displays

6. The lights should cycle again.

7. Then press the Continue button.

8. This should print a Printer Diagnostics page.

9. On the Printer diagnostic page, Use the Utilities menu to troubleshoot printer problems

- Return the printer settings to factory default values.

- Sometimes resetting the printer to the original settings solves formatting problems.

- All menu items are reset to the factory default values except:

- All settings in the Parallel menu, Network menu, and USB menu.

- All downloaded resources (fonts, macros, and symbol sets) in printer memory (RAM) are deleted.

- Resources in flash memory are unaffected.

10. Please locate the value that would say "Factory Defaults".

11. We would need to follow the exact light sequence that you see for the "Factory Defaults".

12. Press and release the Cancel button to advance through the menus and the menu items to the one we would need.

13. Press and hold the Continue button until all the lights cycle to save the function/value.

14. Restart the printer.

I just replaced my ink on E238 laser printer and the yellow light is flashing. I have been on hold for 45 mins with you help line. Everything still prints but the light is flashing

Hi,

  1. Enter the printer's Configuration Menu. To do this:
  2. Turn off the printer.
  3. Open the front cover
  4. Press and hold the Continue () button.
  5. With the front cover open and the Continue button pressed down, power on the printer.
  6. Hold the Continue button until all the lights cycle.
  7. When just the Error light (!) is displayed, close the front cover. The top four lights of the operator panel should come on, indicating that the printer is in configuration mode.
  8. Print the Configuration Settings page. To do this:
    • Press and hold the Continue () button until all of the lights flash. This page lists the functions within the Configuration Menu. The functions are the non·indented items listed along the left edge of the page (along the bottom as printed from printer). They are also unshaded.

Save this page for possible later use.
  9. Reset the photoconductor page count as follows:
  10. Press and release the Cancel button () to move sequentially from one menu item to another. NOTE: If you get lost, you can press and hold the Cancel button to jump to home state (top four lights on).
  11. Press and release the Cancel button until the Toner Low () light is the only light left on.
  12. Press and hold the Continue button until all of the lights flash.
  13. Then release the button. When the Toner Low light is once again the only light left on, the photoconductor page count should be reset to zero.
  14. Return the printer to normal mode. To do this:
    • Power it off for five seconds and then turn it back on.
  15. Print a menu settings page. To do this:
    • When the Ready () light is on, press the Continue button once. The Ready light will begin flashing and one or two pages will print out.
  16. Check the photoconductor reading on the menu settings page. To do this:
  17. Look for a section labeled Cartridge Information and locate the word Photoconductor under that heading.
  18. Confirm that the photoconductor level reading is OK or close to 100%.
  19. If the photoconductor reading is low, try printing 10 - 20 pages.
  20. Print the menu settings page(s) again. Confirm that the photoconductor level reading is OK or close to 100%.
  21. If the photoconductor reading is still low, refer to the Configuration Settings page you printed in Step 2.
  22. Confirm that Reset Photoconductor Counter is listed on the page.
Also confirm that the light sequence for the photoconductor counter is the Toner Low light.
    • If the light sequence is correct, try repeating this entire procedure again from the beginning to reset the counter once more.
    • If a different light sequence is listed for the photoconductor counter, repeat the procedure but this time, instead of stopping at the Toner Low light (Step 3.2), press the Cancel button until the operator panel shows the light sequence that corresponds to the one listed on the Configuration Settings page. Continue with the remainder of the procedure as before to reset the counter again.
  23. If the photoconductor reading is still low after the page reset procedure has been performed twice, the printer may require service.

3. The ON light will start blinking, wait until the ON/OFF light stops blinking.

Printer doesn't like new cartridge

It means you need to replace the photoconductor kit (the bit the toner fits into)
To reset this error, open the front door then press the cancel button for 3 seconds - all lights will cycle, close the front cover. The counter is now reset
